"Great staff great place"

"Great Stay, about 7-8 mins walk to the nearest Hbf/Bahnhof (train + bus). Room was adequate as well as the bathroom! Tap water is fresh and clean (as much as in most, if not all parts of Switzerland - otherwise said). Temperature control on the water pressure is fantastic, you can get really cold water or really hot water if you wanted the extremes. Bed comfy for two, TV great. Breakfast was good, just your regular cold cuts, bread, yogurt, juice/coffee, fruits, hard boiled eggs! delicious! Otherwise, comfortable stay! however just a future recommendation (for summer time especially and maybe winter) but a ice machine for the guest to get some delicious ice in a small insulated cooler (for each room)? since there is no A/C (only a small portable fan which is better than nothing) and no individual fridge (which both of these are not evident in many hotels). The ice would be very refreshing in the summer time!"

Our recent stay at CHÄRNSMATT Gasthof & Spielparadies in Rothenburg was nothing short of exceptional and easily one of the most satisfying hotel experiences we've ever had, especially as a family. This isn't just a place to sleep; it's a complete destination that truly understands hospitality and creates joy for all ages. From the moment we arrived, the warm and genuinely friendly staff made us feel incredibly welcome. Check-in was smooth, and they were always on hand with a smile, ready to assist with any request, making us feel valued guests rather than just another booking. The atmosphere throughout the Gasthof is one of comfort and genuine care. For families with small kids, the "Spielparadies" (play paradise) would be an absolute game-changer. The extensive outdoor playground, with its unique and beloved Liliput Railway are surely amazing . The indoor play area is also a fantastic bonus, ensuring fun even on a rainy day. This focus on family-friendly amenities truly sets CHÄRNSMATT apart. Beyond the incredible play facilities, the culinary experience was a highlight. The breakfast was one of the best in our entire Europe trip. Especially a lady staff with a very beautiful smile, greeted us with a genuine, warm smile and a cheerful "Good morning!" that instantly brightened our day. Her energy was infectious, and she created such a welcoming and positive atmosphere in the breakfast area. "

"This was a top class property. The room and all facilities were modern, clean, and in perfect working order. The location is amazing - a short walk to the lake, a great walk around the lake, and a fantastic castle/museum just down the road. The only issues we had were: There was no Enlish version for the self-check-in process, so there was a bit of guesswork. This made finding our room a matter of checking all the doors with the access card. The email with the room number only arrived sometime AFTER we found the room. The pillows were far too soft - they did not support my head. And the coffee machine in the lobby did not work. However, I would stay there again - Great location and amenities."

"Restaurant staff were amazing! Hotel rooms are very hot & the beds very uncomfortable, but it’s one of the cheapest hotels you can find in Switzerland that isn't an hostel! Bathrooms are nice too for the place. Transportation is easy via bus that comes every 30 minutes. "
