Arrived on Friday afternoon, & found instructions in an envelope, with my name & room key, in the mailbox, outside.
The building is lovely. As I entered, I could see that the beautiful architecture remained. The reception area was crowded into the foyer of the house & felt too tight because not only did it include the office space, but it also kept snacks, plates & other things. The areas that would have been the parlor & dining room areas are visitor bedrooms that open into the office.
My room was on the 3rd floor. The steps up were original, in great shape, & covered in beautiful rugs. The second floor landing was ample, included 3 or 4 bedrooms, with original doors & wallpaper that matched the era. My landing was equally preserved, & my room was large. It held two, queen-sized beds, a large TV with streaming services, two period armoire-type of closets, & a small bathroom.
A few of the things I noticed: I had to straighten out the sheets before getting in, & the skirts on both beds were for larger beds & awkwardly placed. The bed I used, however, was comfortable. The room had one window with a small air conditioner. The shower in the bathroom was extremely tight. It seemed the bath was remodeled in the 1980s, based on the decor, the shower, & the flooring. It worked just fine, though!
The person at the desk, later, was very friendly! Thanks for a safe & cozy stay! I didn't stay for breakfast. The neighborhood is old Boston & gorgeous. Walking is a pleasure.
