"This was the most expensive hotel I stayed at during my 10-day road trip, yet unfortunately it was the worst experience of the three.
The biggest issue was the overwhelming chemical cleaner smell in the room. It was so strong that every item in my suitcase — even clean clothes I never wore — absorbed the odor, and I had to wash everything when I got home. I’ve never experienced anything like that in a hotel before.
I was also surprised that the HVAC system did not allow the fan to run continuously. I rely on white noise to sleep, and every hotel I’ve stayed in before has offered a constant fan option. The room becoming completely silent allowed me to hear every noise both in and outside of the hotel, which made for a rough night's sleep and 6AM flight departure.
In addition, the entrance area, elevator, and hallway floors needed swept.
Overall, this hotel felt extremely overpriced for the experience provided. The strong odor alone would keep me from staying here again."
"Great place to stay! Wonderful pool for the kids, great rooms, great staffing, the only wish the lounge was open on Sundays. Other than that it was a great stay."
Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Bismarck by IHG
8/10 Good
"The staff and the property location are great. Unfortunately, it’s starting to show some age. Wallpaper peeling in the bathrooms. Mildew in the corners of the shower. And they could certainly get some better towels as these are miniature and thin. Towels I would expect at a low quality hotel not a Holiday Inn express. Other than that great stay."
"Our room was clean, the staff we saw were friendly, breafast was okay. There was No Smoking in the hotel but that didn’t stop people from chain smoking right outside the door. It was great that pets were welcomed but some pet owners were not responsible about pick up the doggy poo. Then we had to be cautious taking our little one out as there was a lot of boasting of how vicious their dogs were."
