cute little place. It used to be a motel and they switched it to more of a hotel but it’s definitely not really a hotel. That said, accommodations were comfortable and clean, staff was very sweet Walls are quite thin so you will probably hear your neighbors but they provide earplugs (can be found in the bathroom)

Wonderful service, quick and smooth checkin. Love the vintage “drive-in motel” feel. The rooms are clean, modern and efficient. Walkable to many excellent restaurants through beautiful neighborhoods. Highly recommend.

There are a couple of places to grab a beer walking distance. they also have a fire pit out front which is nice on a chilly night.

We enjoyed our stay for 2 nights. Perks were how close it is to breweries and restaurants (walkable) and being able to enjoy the fire pit in the evening. We didnt mind that our room wasn't made up, nor was noise an issue. We will be back :)

A great conversion of a motel into a fun, sporty place. Nice rooms with good amenities, easy to get in and out of with your bike or hiking shoes. And close to all the good restaurants and brew pubs downtown.

Had higher hopes for this hotel. It looks really cute in the photos, but the rooms are rather drab and shoddy. Our carpet was completely stained, the room lacked any character, and didn't come with very many amenities (no microwave, no coffee maker). The people at the front desk were friendly, but didn't know much about anything when we asked them (i.e., not very helpful). I personally wouldn't stay here again. Wasn't even close to worth the price they charge for a night.

We are currently in the process of replacing all carpeting in the rooms, and I would love to have you come back and stay in a newly carpeted room and I will personally oversee your stay so you will have a true Heliotrope experience.

Nice little Bellingham hotel
Great location. Especially if you have a bike to bomb around Bellingham. Service was great and super friendly. My only complaint is that the carpets were pretty gross. Probably time to replace. Also it’s a little pricey for what it is. I’d expect this to be closer to $100 a night but I guess there’s high demand

We loved our stay here. We were greeted and given info about the property. It is a cute and small hotel with a nice space for relaxing with a beer and a good book. We brought bikes and rode into downtown (which is a very short ride) for some shopping and then ended up at a local stop a few blocks away for drinks/dinner at a food truck. We will definitely stay here again.

Easy check in, clean room, spacious rooms, and a comfy bed. I love the restored Motel vibe. Close to many things in Bellingham including some great breweries. The coffee in the morning is great. Dog friendly is a plus!

Wonderful mini getaway
I stayed in Heliotrope for one night to see a show in Bellingham, and we had a wonderful stay! Truly dog friendly, not just dog tolerant. Plenty of space for us and the pup.

Some Pros, Some Cons
We stayed at the Heliotrope for the first time recently - it was our first night staying in Bellingham actually. Pros: 1) Location was cool, only about a mile from some bars, music venues, and restaurants. 2) Cody at the front desk was awesome. Great service, super nice, had some good recommendations for restaurants/bars. 3) They gave us a free room upgrade when we got there which was nice. Cons: 1) We didn’t know there was an extra incidentals fee of $75 until we were checking in at the front desk. For people on a tight budget, that would be very bad. Still waiting on that to get reversed. 2) Our room wasn’t in great condition. Our remote for our heater didn’t work, Cody had to get us a new one so that was fixed pretty quickly. Some of the outlets didn’t work, and this was the first place we’ve ever stayed at that didn’t have a microwave in the room. 3) The front office was supposed to be open 24/7 but we tried to go get some ice at like 11pm and it was locked. Overall, we might consider staying here again, but we’ll most likely check out other hotels in the area when we return.

This adorable, boutique hotel was easy to find, had on-site parking and exceeded my expectations in terms of cleanliness and warmth. The young man who checked me in (and was a constant smiling face throughout my stay) was friendly, helpful and full of great recommendations about the area. I wanted for nothing during my stay and would highly recommend both the accommodations and the area.

It was OK but there is not enough shelf space in the room. The streaming TV service was confusing and often shut down asking for authorization to the channel. This should not be a problem in a hotel?
