"We have a great time. The room we had was quite far from the elevator and we had two little dogs. Long walk to take out. Other than that the entire staff was so pleasant. Everyone was kind, smiled and so very accommodating. Would def go back."

"Very rude , called us at 3 in the Morning to tell us to turn off the tv , added a9$ fee to my card for what I have no idea, only thing good about this place is that it’s close to the beach . I actually could not believe it could not go back to sleep. Completely out of line. I’ve been going there along time but think it’s time to find a nice spot that actually offers coffee in the morning"

"I recently stayed at Shade Hotel Redondo Beach and had a mixed experience. The highlight of the stay was definitely the customer service. Every staff member I interacted with was friendly, welcoming, and eager to help, which made a positive impression from check-in through departure. The food was decent, though not particularly memorable. It was satisfactory for a hotel restaurant, but not something I would specifically seek out again. Unfortunately, the condition of the room did not meet my expectations for the price point. The room showed noticeable signs of wear and deferred maintenance. There was peeling wallpaper, scratches and damage on several wood surfaces, minor mold around the ceiling area near the shower, and the closet door would not close completely. While none of these issues were severe individually, together they made the room feel tired and in need of refurbishment. Overall, the excellent staff helped make the stay enjoyable, but the hotel would benefit from updating and better maintaining its guest rooms. With some attention to these details, it could provide a much stronger guest experience."
The Vurpillat Beachfront Hotel

"Only plus is you walk out the back door and you're right on the walking path, cross that and you're on the beach. Before booking check reviews!!!! We only checked them after and regretted our decision to stay here. I guess if you absolutely do not care what the room is like. . . And you only care about being close to the beach, then this hotel is perfect for you! Cons: No parking, no elevator, 3 flights of lopsided stairs, no renovations, beyond dusty, and Jay will take 1.5 hours to check you in, windows have no screens, sheets are stained and have holes, curtains also dirty and stained, fans are disgusting, no A/C, beyond hot, can't open windows without toddler falling out. Got there around 3:30pm to check-in. There's a note saying call a number to receive help. Mind you check in starts at 3pm. He kept saying the room was being worked on still. We asked about parking and he said someone might be leaving so we could take their spot for $20 a day or he could give us a pass for the meters. If we didn't ask about parking we would have been paying at a meter for 3 days or have a 10 minute walk to the closet parking garage with prices unknown. Jay only came down to meet us finally because a family member called and said we were waiting outside. Mind you, even after he came down, we still had to wait on the "room to be cleaned". Other reviews warned about trouble with refunds, so we knew we just had to ignore everything, enjoy the beach, and deal with the room. Worst beach trip"

"We enjoyed staying in this quaint motel. It felt like a step back in time. We had a standard ocean view room. It was clean and they even had Charmin toilet paper. We took advantage of the free bikes and had a great ride to Redondo Beach. Close restaurants and close to the beach and strand. We would definitely stay there again!"

"Room was clean and spacious but the bed was uncomfortable. There were cockroaches in the bathroom when the lights were turned on in the morning. I did not eat the breakfast but it did not look to be more than some bread and a type of cereal or two. The staff was ok but didn’t seem overly welcoming. "
