I would give the resort zero stars.
First, I want to make it clear that Costa Rica itself is absolutely beautiful. The natural scenery, beaches, and lush surroundings were breathtaking. We enjoyed exploring the country and were grateful that we booked excursions that allowed us to experience Costa Rica outside of the resort. Unfortunately, our experience at Riu Guanacaste was extremely disappointing. Our group consisted of 10 family members and friends. Together, we spent approximately $16,000 on this all-inclusive vacation with the expectation of having the time of our lives, relaxing, celebrating, and creating wonderful memories together. Some of our friends were visiting Riu Guanacaste for the first time, and it was especially disappointing for them to feel that they received only the bare minimum from the resort. We work hard for what we have, and this vacation was something we had all looked forward to. Unfortunately, the level of service and overall experience did not reflect what we expected from an all-inclusive resort. Customer Service
The customer service was one of the biggest disappointments. We encountered several instances of rude and unhelpful service, and at times it seemed as though our concerns were not taken seriously. Basic requests often became unnecessarily difficult.
