Other than the location, this was the absolutely worse hotel I have ever stayed in Europe or anywhere else in the world! The room was so filthy that I don’t know where to begin. The AC Unit wasn’t working, the bedding wasn’t clean, there was mould everywhere in the bathroom and the window latch the bathroom was broken and there was no fan. One of the pillow covers looked like it had blood stain and the pillow inside was yellow and dirty. I asked the front desk person to come and look at the AC and the bedding. Instead of apologizing, the clerk put duct tape on the broken slot where the door FOB is supposed to insert into to start the AC. Said that maintenance would come and fix it but nobody showed up. She then said that there’s nothing wrong with the pillow stain which was shocking to hear. I took pictures as proof. We had paid for a superior room but that wasn’t the room we were given. This isn’t a 3 star let alone a 1* hotel. We’re so disappointed by our stay and would have expected Expedia to warn members before booking. The only good part was Milan (sp?) the day front desk manager.

The warm welcome we received was amazing. Made to feel very important from the start. Offered lots of advise on where to go, how to get there and what attractions could need prior booking, to avoid disappointment. Every day we were greeted with Good Morning and our names , followed by do you need any help today . So kind and considerate . Our room was quite small and very dark and did have a very bad smell at one point which is due to the drains in the city ( we often smelt this while walking around) they came and sprayed some air freshener in the vents which quickly sorted the problem. We didn’t plan to spend much time in our room so the size wasn’t important. The hotel was ideally placed, so close to everything.

First of all, the front desk staff was amazing, Minuel was very helpful and friendly. Excellent! The location is great, right off of Las Ramblas, close to everything. The rooms however are tiny, as is the bathroom. Realllly small. Like a cruise ship cabin. And the hotel offers no onsite lobby, bar or restaurant. So if after a long day of sightseeing and shopping, you want to relax it is hard to do so in your tiny room. Also no refrigerator or coffee in the room and the hair dryer is weak. If you don’t mind those things, then I recommend staying only because of the great staff and wonderful location.

At a very convenient location, close to a Metro station Liceu on the L3 line and just off the crowded La Rambla street. Very friendly and helpful front desk staff. Clean bedding. A small hotel with quite limited room space.

Moldy dump. Terrible management. Stay away.
Checked into our room, it smelled funky, started having an asthma attack immediately thereafter. Lots of black mold in the bathroom and it looked like there was water damage elsewhere in the room (regrettably, I didn’t take photos of the rest, I’d love to show you how terrible the accommodations were). The whole place was a dump. The manager wouldn’t give us a different room or a refund for the 3 day advance booking when I explained I couldn’t stay in the one we were given because I COULDN’T BREATHE. (I’m a millennial, I’ve never even ASKED to change rooms before.) Easily the worst travel experience of my life. I’m out like $300 and I’m still using the steroid inhaler over a week later.

The hotel was centrally located, close to everything. Making it easy to walk to everything and it was very quiet. However the rooms were too small, with no windows for fresh air. When i complained i was told i have to pay extra for a bigger room. When i booked i was not told that. For a claustrophobic person i definitely had a very bad stay. For that reason i would not recommend this hotel.

It was a great place to stay, the only issue I had is not coffee until 9am as nothing close opened unitl then. Maybe a kureg or something I would have even paid for it just needed coffee in the morning.

I recently stayed at the May Ramblas in Barcelona, hoping for a pleasant experience. Unfortunately, my stay was marred by disappointment with the facilities and the complete lack of response from the hotel’s manager and staff. Upon arrival, we encountered debris in the shower and promptly informed the front desk. Despite their assurances, the issue persisted, resulting in a flooded bathroom and foul odor. The facilities were unusable. To make matters worse, the hotel was already aware of these plumbing problems, which left us feeling neglected and unimportant as guests. What truly added to our frustration was the complete lack of response from the hotel manager. I sent two emails detailing our concerns and requesting compensation, but received no acknowledgment or reply. This disregard for our concerns only further diminished our confidence in the establishment’s commitment to guest satisfaction. As a traveler seeking a comfortable and enjoyable experience, I expected better from the May Ramblas. The lack of response from the manager and staff, coupled with the unresolved facility issues, left me deeply disappointed. I regretfully cannot recommend this hotel to fellow travelers who value responsive management and well-maintained facilities. It is my hope that by sharing this feedback, the hotel management will recognize the importance of addressing guest concerns promptly and taking actions. Not having functional facilities in the room ruined our stay.

This property was comfortable and offered the basic amenities for the price. Great service from Miriam and the other front desk associates. Loved that it was in the heart of La Rambla and was close to lots of restaurants and shopping and exploring in general. The only thing I did not like was the shampoo or shower gel, more on the cheaper side that you use at airports. Would have loved something a little more upscale.

I booked two superior double rooms which were advertised as 216 sq feet. Nothing superior here except location. The actual room area itself was very small with just a narrow walkway on either side of the bed & a small desk. There was no place for luggage here. The entry/closet area was decent & this is where luggage can sit on floor. There's a sharp turn into a hallway down to small sleeping area. The 216 sq ft includes a lot unusable space. Bathroom is large which was nice. glass partial shower wall doesn’t keep water in shower. Floor and bath mat gets very wet! We had no hot water the two days we were here. Walls in room were in dire need of paint. Black smudges everywhere. This is a no frills hotel. No coffee or tea in room or anywhere in hotel. Fortunately coffee shop a few doors down. Website also advertises their lovely sun deck which was closed due to safety reasons. WiFi was ok. Staff was very friendly but some not proficient in English which made communication difficult.

Major red flag when the taxi driver wouldn’t finish the proposed route and made us get out and walk with 6 bags down the street… not the the hotels fault. As I was checking in a couple came down stairs and asked if they could switch rooms because the air conditioning didn’t work. Another came down and said there was no hot water. My radar was going off. We left for the day, came back after 8 hours of touring the city. Guess what? Air didn’t work, the Wi-Fi was terrible (couldn’t open an email) the room was infested with flies and mosquitos. We packed up and left. While we were down in the lobby ANOTHER family came down and asked when the guy was coming to fix the air. So without telling anyone the entire builds AC was down. $350 a night!!!!!!! What a joke. I’d NEVER even consider this place again. Beware

Zero water pressure and hot water was questionable. The flooring wasn’t done properly so all the boards slipped around and were cracked. We lifted one up and it was disgusting underneath. We had a terrace and the same thing with the wood decking, except it also flexed and bounced so you had to be really careful not the stub your toe. We got woken up at 9am with the neighbor using a hammer drill to remodel their deck…15 feet from our bed. Made the use of the room and terrace unbearable until about 6pm. You could feel and hear the springs in the mattress. Staff was nice and great location.

Last minute getaway spot
This hotel was clean. The room was spacious for 3 people. The staff was friendly and very helpful. I think a coat of paint and a few pictures and it would be perfect

I checked in to this hotel and noticed the smell of sewage as soon as i walked into my room. I immediately went downstairs and asked for a different room. I was told the hotel was full and was offered air freshener. I refused and asked for a refund which they refused. I booked another hotel on the spot. There's no shortage of them here. Avoid this one!

My team and I stayed at Hotel May Ramblas while attending MWC this year. The location was fantastic, literally across the street from the subway entrance, the nearby restaurants, coffee shops was perfect, as was the proximity of the Gothic Quarter and any kind of shopping you might have time for while on a business trip. While the hotel doesn't have a restaurant or any place to gather, there are a number of nearby pubs, coffee shops, etc., that make that a non-issue. The staff was friendly, accommodating, and attentive, and the rooms were clean, the beds comfortable, and the facilities well kept. I would not hesitate to stay here again.
