"Seems like this was a 5 star destination hotel about 40 years ago. Still nice, but dated. Quiet. Could use a little more TLC, but has a lot of great character."

"Loved staying here mostly because it is on a lake that is a birding hotspot. The staff is friendly and the rooms are big. Our room had a patio overlooking the lake. Lots of birds. Scenic. Housekeeping was friendly and helpful. They are remodeling so can’t wait to see the new look. Breakfast is OK. Nearby lots of restaurants and shopping and the National Park. "

"We had booked a room after driving since 5am. There was no one at the property so we could check in. When I did find someone, she said they were over booked and had no room for us. She wasn’t willing to help with anything. I spent about 2 hours on the phone with 4 different people at Expedia before getting the room payment refunded. The place was very sketchy as was the lady running it. "

"Breakfast was good the lady was very nice staff was nice. Room was dirty beds was clean thank goodness. It’s was dusky ,hand print on mirror marks on walls Stained carpet and couch pillows was stained and nasty looking "

"The room ac kept turning on and off every few minutes and didn't cool the room down. There is a main road right next to the hotel and an interstate highway just beyond that and our room faced them. I'm a lite sleeper and the noise from traffic kept me up most of the night. The fire alarm for the entire building went off around 3am and we evacuated the building and it took about 45 minutes before we could go back to our rooms. The place is not fancy, but the room and beds were clean. The common areas of the hotel, such as hallways, elevator and entry carpeting needs some cleaning and updating. The breakfast is not bad, but the breakfast area is real small and there is not enough room for everyone. No one was at the front desk the entire time we were there, instead there was a phone and a note to press a button and a few minutes later someone would come to the desk. The price was good compared to other such rated hotels in the area. I think the rating for this hotel was too high. I would not stay at this hotel again; there are a lot of other hotels in the area for about $20 more per night. If the only thing that matters to you is low cost, then I would recommend this hotel, it is ok, but not good or great. "

"Hotel stay was very pleasant. Comfy room, friendly staff at checkin. Appreciated the luggage cart too. Breakfast was spot on with nice, hot fresh food. "

"This was the second most best up place I’ve ever stayed at in the USA. No elevator and no rooms available on the first floor so my back hurts from carrying my super heavy suitcase up the stairs. It barely passed the test as somewhere I would sleep as it had clean sheets and most things appeared to be wiped down, but the floors (although uncarpeted which I greatly prefer as it avoids terrible odors etc)were pretty nasty with all kinds of smudges, scrapes, goobery stuff, the walls were disgusting and looked like they hadn’t been painted/refinished in decades, the hallways were disgusting carpet, the office chair had dozens of multicolored blotches, scratches etc etc…the list goes on. It was the cheapest hotel with ratings above 7.0 (it was right at 7.0) which is why I chose to stay there but I think I’d prefer to spend $25 more for a better hotel. I will mention that there was a huge dumpster in the parking lot which might mean they’re finally renovating something but my room was certainly not one of them as of yet."
