I have mix experience about my visit. The check in was great. I was able to check in early. 1 front desk staff was very courteous. When asked for extra pillow, another front desk staff asked if I checked the closet. I said I did but I want the same pillows as those on the bed, which there are only 2. The front desk delivers 1 pillow, that is the same as the one in the closet. My room is 212, this probably is the worse room of the hotel. Expedia should not contract for this room. There is NO view, and it's in front of a storage room for toilet paper etc.. The inside is nice and roomy, clean, and relatively modern. Most likely will try a different hotel on the next visit.

I attempted to check in after the 3P time, and was not allowed to check in even though I paid in advance. I reserved the room at approximately 8P the night of the room reservation-so why that was allowed if they would not accept you was unacceptable.

Loved how all the little shops were right underneath, but on the proximity to most things in Avalon. Had a couple of issues where the sliding door in my kids room would not lock, no lock/broken. We had germs across from each other, one had balcony, but no tub, the other had a nice soaker tub, but no balcony. And all of our doors were not fully locked unless we really pulled them shut so a little security concern. The continental breakfast really didn’t have any options for those who are dairy free, so be aware. Nicely cleaned, staff were all very friendly and responsive.

Staff was wonderful, breakfast every morning was great. Rooms very spacious. My only complaint would be if you get a room that overlooks shopping area below, it lights up the room a lot at night.

Check-in was easy and initially staff. We were able to leave our luggage there before checking in since we got there early and explore and walk around. Our luggage was brought to the room which was fairly clean. The room was a bit stuffy, but once the air was turned on it was fine. Sliding glass door leading out to the balcony does not lock. I called down to the front desk area to asked about which room we got since it did not look like the description from what I booked through Expedia. I got the newly remodeled Superior room which was supposed to have a fireplace and a bit bigger, but ended up with a Deluxe (there is a size and pricing difference). The older lady who initially checked us in answered when I called to inquire about it and she told me that it was the Deluxe room. I informed her that I booked the Superior which she got defensive and said that I only booked for 2 and had 3 people. The room stated it can sleep 3 with free rollaway bed and did not give me the option to add a 3rd person on the site. She then continued to reprimand me stating that she had the right to cancel my room because I only said 2 people when I booked the room and continue to say that Expedia says that Deluxe and Superior room were the same. Which is not true since Expedia gave me the option to pick different rooms at different prices (Superior and Deluxe being different in the choices given). Not happy with the way I was spoken to, but stay was decent and other staff were nice.

The room was very roomy and clean. Theseated patio area was very sweet in the morning with coffee or tea. Our favorite part was the extra large bathtub, definitely 5 stars! Wonderful for our honeymoon and first time on Catalina Island.
