It was okay because is in the heart of avalon. its my first time to stay overnight i rely on the review but this is my honest review i will not stay again in this place. stuff are good and friendly but the room is too small, no microwave, no elevator to go up in 2nd floor

Best location and staff. Well kept the facility since it was built in long ago. Our ferry arrived earlier than the checkin time and they offered us to check in at that time which was like 11:30 am. We were greatly appreciated. The only thing we didn’t like was no sound proof in wall so we could hear everything from the next room.

Our room was so cute and cozy!!! We chose one with a view, and waking up to the sounds of waves was awesome. The staff was super nice and helpful. The common area with seating was such a nice tough and so clean. I will be coming back!!

Classic "motel" type spot. Not accessible due to stairs. Small room and bathroom, but fine. Friendly staff. Breakfast was pre-packaged muffins and juice only.

We had a wonderful experience staying at Hotel Mac Rae for the evening. The staff was welcoming, our room was ready for early check in, and the hotel and room were clean. They offered coffee/orange juice with pastries in the morning. Overall great experience. Would stay there again.

Perfect location and very clean.
This hotel was perfect, the rooms, while small, were very clean. The hotel is old but well kept. You do have to carry your luggage up two flights of stairs. The people are wonderful and I would highly recommend this place.

Great stay at Hotel Mac Rae!
I stayed at the Hotel Mac Rae for the Avalon 50k trail race. Check in was super easy, and the staff even got up extra early to make sure the runners had breakfast and coffee. Best of all, they even let us use a shower after the race. I will absolutely be staying here the next time I’m in Catalina!

GO TO GLENMORE PLAZA HOTEL!
I didn’t even get the chance to check in and get my room, how was planning this trip since October. Head up guys if you pay with a gift card hotels.com or any gift card and pay your hotel room at head of time please keep does cards per the owner I didn’t get the opportunity to check in because I didn’t show her the gift cards. It’s was so sad to see her find something for me not check in at the property when obviously the payment was already made since I pay with gift cards and the remaining balance with my debit she still insisted for me to show her the gift cards! So sad to say that I wasn’t expecting this at the beginning of my trip and more importantly on Christmas Eve. I just wish for her a happy and peaceful life seeing she needs a lot for that. Beautiful property to have such of nasty owner. God bless you yourself and ugly heart. You know after I call hotel.com to verify my gift cards trying to give me half price off in the room. I BOOK ON GLENMORE PLAZA HOTEL HIGHLY RECOMMEND ! REALLY AND GOOD COUPLE WHO OWNS THE HOTEL !!!

This hotel was amazing. Staff was able to help us check in early and check out late, which we greatly appreciated. I loved the courtyard area as well and how close the hotel was to everything. Would definitely go again!

We loved: the easy access of the place- the welcoming staff-the cleanliness- THE VIEW from our room- the shower and products-complimentary breakfast- holding luggage before and after check in- option to shower after check out... One heads up for others: if you have an ocean view room,you are next to a bar so it is quite loud during the night til the bar closes- bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper.

Nice, clean ocean front hotel
Not the newest hotel, but updated and very well maintained, and very clean. The staff is very friendly, and the location is great. We had an ocean view room, which was great. The only caution is that you then also get the noise from people walking right by your window, and it goes on late into the night. If that bothers you, get one of the garden view rooms. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

This was the tiniest and most outdated hotel I've ever stayed in. The staff was great, but the hotel room was bad! There were missing bulbs, the bathroom door didn't close unless it was lifted. I could barely fit into the shower (I am 5'8) and the tiny shower was so dark we had to prop the door open slightly. The bed was waaay too soft and the decor was from the 70s or 80s. The only reason we didn't check into a nicer hotel was we didn't want to lose the one night stay which is the penalty for late cancelation.
