Thus, whole arboretum Garden was created around the Abbey, the valuable work of brother Syméon and his 3 gardeners who must constantly take account of moisture, acid Earth, Earth shaded or full sun, and the needs of each plant. The Abbey : Upon his return from the second crusade, at the end of the year 1149, cardinal Etienne de Bar, Bishop of Metz founded the Abbey of Autrey in which is installed a community of canons regular.
