We really loved our experience at Kato Waidi! The staff were so kind and helpful, the food was delicious, and the location was both peaceful (it’s right on the river!), as well as interesting (it’s right beside a Nubian craft market). Our only challenge was that the AC had a hard time cooling our room, but it was also 117 degrees so I think any AC would have struggled :)
We had a wonderful stay at Kato Waidi Nubian House. The staff were incredibly polite, welcoming, and always ready to help with anything we needed. They arranged all our transportation smoothly and made our stay completely stress-free. The traditional grilled dinner was excellent and felt very authentic. We highly recommend staying a couple of days to experience and explore the more traditional side of Nubian life.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
Room was painted in funky Nubian colours and comfortable and staff very helpful.
Beautiful and very relaxing property on the Nile with very clean and lovely rooms, friendly staff who were very accommodating and delicious food! The surrounding area was fun to walk around also with several souvenir shops and friendly people and cafes.
Stayed here the night before starting a Nile Cruise. It's an unusual experience-the transfer from the airport eventually puts you in a tuk-tuk to get you there! And we had to take a boat to transfer to our cruise. It feels rustic, but in a good way. Staff very attentive, but not much english speaking. Rooms were simple but comfortable.
Our stay in Kato Waidi was wonderful, the hotel is located in a spectacular scenery.
Ahmed from reception and administration staff was incredibly kind and helpful attending our needs.
We could arrange day trips , boat and car rides from the hotel and food was great.
I really enjoyed my stay at this family-run hotel in the Nubian village. The place was clean, the family was very kind, and the location couldn’t be better — right in front of the Nile, with beautiful trees in the dining area that kept the space fresh and gave it a natural, charming atmosphere. It’s also right next to the dock where the small boats arrive, and in the center of the village, so everything is within walking distance. Just keep in mind that cars don’t go into the center, so if you arrive by car you’ll need to take a tuk-tuk for the last stretch.
Also the prices for the food are not as expensive as others places such in Aswan
We enjoyed our stay at kato waidi staff was very friendly and we were lucky they had a great restaurant with a wonderful view of the nile. Highly recommend and we will be back :)
The hotel was exactly what I wanted. Our room was comfortable and interesting, the people were lovely and helpful. The food was tasty and the view spectacular.
Some of our taxi and tuktuk drivers needed help finding the correct hotel, but we were not in such a rush that it was a problem.
The Nubian Village was fun, but neither of us were keen on shopping. But the hotel itself was very nice and a different experience for us. The food was wonderful and the staff very helpful and very friendly.
If you want to see another side of Egypt on your trip, spend some time in the Nubian area near Aswan to experience a different culture. The Kato Waidi Nubian guest house is rustic, colorful, and full of friendly staff and great food.
We loved this place! Such a pleasant surprise. It’s right in the tiny little heart of Nubian village so all the little shops are right there. The colors are great and the staff was on it and so so nice. I’d stay again for sure!
We liked the uniqueness of this area, Nubian Village, and the colorful of the properities. We stayed for two nights. The hostel is located on the Nile river that provides scenery views of the surrounding nature. The food was good. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the sheets were clean. The only issue, there was no internet in the room, just in the common area. Overall, the experience worths it.
I stayed there for 6 nights with my dog. We liked the service in everyway, evereyone always took care of us. The employees are very relaxed and helpful. They also help to make tour accommodations and whatever you need really. The only thing I would change is the loud knocking doors for tours in the am, they woke me up 3 nights and was tired all day from it.
If you want to see the colourful way the Nubian people live come here. The rooms are built in the traditional style and all painted in bright colurs and spotless clean. We had a minor problem.with the power and within minutes they moved us to an upgraded room and could not apologise enough. Each room is unique. The food is basic but well cooked and cheap. Give our regards to all.the staff
Kato Waidi exceeded our expectations. We were greeted with utmost warmth and friendliness. All the staff members were respectful and kind. The food was delicious and the portions were generous.
We booked our stay through Expedia whom which caused a huge misunderstanding but the hotel staff were so calm and professional while trying to settle the issue. Nevertheless, it did not ruin our stay but simply highlighted how amazing this hotel is.
The view and ambience of the place made our stay truly magical. Thank you.
Kato Waidi Nubian House is magical. The beautiful Nubian artwork in the Nubian Village and through this affordable, modest hotel inspired my creativity. I enjoyed the laid back friendly atmosphere. I felt at home. And the staff was extremely accommodating. One of the special benefits is the affordable airport transport.
Kato Waidi Nubian House sits on the River Nile.
It was a blessing to journey down the Nile on the boat into town to see the sunrise and feel the song of Ancient people through the whispers of the River Nile. My stay at Kato Waidi Nubian House lives in my heart. I highly recommend it if you are looking for a comfortable environment that is child friendly. Tipping is part of the Egyptian tourist culture and I found myself wanting to share because of the profound humility and generosity of everyone I met. And the Kato Waidi Nubian Village has a vibrant Bazaar with wonderful artwork and souvenirs to remember the journey!
Nestled in the colourful Nubian village just beside the Nile, Kato Waidi is truly a place of ultimate calm and peace. Our room was spacious, east facing and offered superb view of the river. The manager and most other staff speak good English and helped us with boat tour and transfer to train station. The breakfast was super tasty, fresh and came with big portion size. They even packed us breakfast boxes for our early morning tour to Abu Simbel.
Wifi signal was also fair throughout the property. We recommend strongly.
Kato Waidi House is a boutique place and the dhappiest hotel on the NIle. This house is smack dab in the middle of the action. It is literally on the nile and a man named Fufu takes you everywhere in his boat...very cool. The outdoor dining is not only delicious, beautiful and food is love here! One night a group of local musicians came and everyone danced....The rooms are happy, colorful, so clean its crazy, comfortable, super good AC, and the best mulit task bathroom ever (one room shower, sink, W/C all in one. Love that. OK, the best thing is the hotel is located in a Nubian village and how cool is that...fun shopping, lots of good loot.
I give this place : 100%, A++++
