Aslings Beach

Aslings Beach
Swim, stroll, surf or simply relax on the sweeping curve of golden sands nestled beside the bucolic town of Eden in southern New South Wales.

Take a gentle stroll down to picturesque and tranquil Aslings Beach. Located on the northern shores of Twofold Bay, stretching away from Eden, the unspoiled beach offers a peaceful spot to enjoy Australia’s breathtaking Sapphire Coast.

If you are keen to jump in the cool waters, head straight to the partly man-made ocean pool at the southern edge of the beach. This walled rock pool is a great place for children to play in or for more relaxed swimmers to do laps due to its protected, shallow waters. As you swim, let your eyes be drawn to the fascinating patterns in the natural rock face that forms one end of the pool.

To dry off in the sun, stroll farther along the beach. Watch for dolphins, especially around dawn and dusk, and see if you can spot offshore whales during the migration season.

The beach, with its tree-lined shore, retains an untouched feel. The path beneath the trees is great for a shady walk. As you go, see Worang Point and Middle Head rise above the waters of the bay.

If you are a keen surfer, don’t forget to take your surfboard along to ride the smooth and steady waves when the wind blows from the southeast. Only jump in for a dip if you are a confident swimmer. Rip currents occur often along the beach, so if you are not familiar with this, only swim here when lifeguards patrol the beach in the summer months.

Check out Lake Curalo, which is separated from the beach by a thin strip of land. Walk along the nearly 4 miles (6 kilometers) of boardwalk to enjoy the beautiful estuarine views and birdlife. During wetter months, the lake breaks through the sandbank at the northern end of the beach to spill out into the sea.

Bring a picnic with you to relax and enjoy the sweeping views. Try the picnic tables at the southern end of the beach for a slightly elevated viewpoint or spread your picnic blanket out on the beach itself.

You can reach Aslings Beach by foot from Eden or by car. Various free parking areas are located along the quiet road that runs along the length of the beach, just behind the trees.
