"I stayed here recently for business, and found the hotel to be a slightly dated design. Hotel staff and porters were exceedingly helpful, but service was very slow in the dining hall (probably as we were a big group). The hotel very kindly opened the breakfast hall early one morning when we were going on a safari day, and we were pleased to see a full range of breakfast was available then. Sadly after getting back from the safari there was no hot water. No wifi availble in the rooms, and the...

"I was just coming off a tour and had an extra night to spend in Arusha. Rather than spend the night in the tour hotel I decided to try Mc-Elly's for about 4x LESS the price. The area in the daytime is a bit chaotic (industrial area) but it's the real Africa not what I saw in the tour hotel. As soon as the sun goes down it was very quiet. Loved sitting out on my balcony. Breakfast was great, lots of variety and the manager of the hotel even greeted me asking me how I found everything. Nice...

"We stayed at Joshmal Hotel for one night, and had a good experience. The room was nice and clean, and the staff was friendly. We were leaving pretty early the following morning, so they arranged for breakfast to start a little earlier than usual, so we got to eat before we left."

"The place is what you pay for I guess. You'd think £60 would go farther in Tanzania but apparently not, Arusha is expensive.
Basically, rooms are like prison cells, bathrooms terrible, and it took a few tries to find a room with working aircon. Staff were friendly enough if a little inefficient.
What is with having to ask for toilet paper all the time - just have some in the room, its a basic necessity!!!"

Airport Planet Lodge at Kilimanjaro Airport
10/10 Excellent
"Staff is so kind and helpful. The hotel isn't fancy but the rooms are big and so clean, food is also very good. Perfect place to stay before a flight out or when you first arrive to rest."

Mount Meru Game Lodge
10/10 Excellent
"We absolutely loved our stay! The history of this cozy property along with the delicious food prepared by Chef Ombeni Tz (his traditional cuisine is delicious) made our 3 night stay one of our top locations to recommend. The large variety of tropical plants and sound of the flowing water throughout the property was relaxing…but be sure to visit the spa and ask for Caroline (Sagara)—she has over 20 years experience and is an amazing masseuse. One of our favorite memories of our 3 week trip was our daily visits with Moki, a local woodcarver on-site whose father was good friends with the founder (Dr. Nagy). Look for Harry (co-owner), he’s typically on-site working and can share lots of fun facts about this amazing place. We will definitely be back :)"

Sanna Boutique Hotel
8/10 Good
"We had a nice stay, but expectacions was higher. Rooms a bit outdated, but still nice. In restaurant we ordered a bit special dishes, but all came mixed up, but they corrected it third time. All together, not a bad stay, just few things could be made better. We are still happy with the stay"

Njiro Legacy
10/10 Excellent
"Very helpful and flexible staff on reception, quiet location, very friendly restaurant team, chilled bar area, room excellent, two balconies. Maybe fix the locks on the sliding doors."

Kiboko Lodge
10/10 Excellent
"Kiboko Lodge is beautiful and quiet with a warm and welcoming staff. The rooms are spacious and clean. The staff is beyond accommodating and amazing. They were so kind and helpful and arranged a driver to take us into Arusha the next day. We booked this lodge very last minute and when we arrived at 11pm they had an entire feast ready for us. Even late at night when we had issues with the power, they accommodated us so that we could charge our devices. I cannot stress how beautiful and special this lodge was. It very much exceeded our expectations. I do think it’s important to note that while it says it’s only 12 miles away from the JRO airport, it took about an hour and a half to arrive there. The roads mostly up to the lodge are unpaved and very bumpy. Luckily a taxi was able to get us there but I think a Land Cruiser is best for the terrain, as some of the roads could be impassible with a regular vehicle. I would still rate this place as peaceful and excellent, but it is helpful info to know. We will definitely return to Kiboko!"
