"The hotel is far from the beach but the good thing is that they offer shuttle service at no cost from 9am-9pm every day. Beach club is nice which we really liked at no cost. But the rooms are not well maintained and housekeeping needs to improve there was mold in shower tile. Hotel has nice view facing the beach even though it’s far from it. No near restaurant only the one connected to the hotel but there waiters are not really friendly."

"The restaurant food and system was horrible. Everything in the buffet was poorly refilled and it was for the most part cold. There is no towels, and you are granted a key card for 1 pool towel to which there are only 2 swap out stations that close early therefore you carry a dirty towel until you are able to exchange it. The 24 hours snacks are nacho chips with no cheese, we asked if it would be refilled and were told they were out. A fridge full of squishes hotdogs and burgers frozen for you to try to cook in 1 miniature grill. The beach access was dirty and there is no where to sit, no towels and no access to alcohol out there. The steakhouse was a predefined meal and limited menu. On my second night my room flooded and when I called the front desk they said they would send housekeeping. Housekeeping left all the wet towels behind on the floor and said it would most likely happen again. Checkout is at noon, at 8 am someone opened my door even though I was still in the room with my do not disturb sign on the door."

"Great location and property. The amenities like the pool and theater were awesome. Direct access to the beach to watch the surfers and experience the volcano rocks expanded our love for the property. The shell filled beach was truly unlike other places in the world. We loved our stay. Recommend if you want a taste of the nightlife in tamarindo as well."

"Just got back from a 7 night stay. Had a wonderful time! The rooms were clean and loved the filtered water machine and cappuccino maker in our room. Most food was very good with Bamboo (Asian) and Manglar (seafood) being our favorite restaurants. The pizza stand by the pool was awesome! The pool and pool bar staff were fun. Shoutout to Alan at the club swim-up bar. Recommend paying extra for the club adult side of the resort if you are traveling without kids. The beach was also great! We swam in the ocean and saw manta rays and sea turtles by the shore. Beautiful sunsets also. Highly recommend the Westin!"

"The only reason I rated more than 1 star is because of the staff. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. We had to form a line in the heat outside at 5pm to make reservations to eat at any of the restaurants other than the buffet. Latest reservation was 8pm but you were often buzzed early. If you didn’t you could only eat at the buffet because most restaurants were booked due to the limited seating at each. Very limited room service menu! Couldn’t order food at the pool! AC in the rooms would only bring the temperature down to about 75. Steak house is not air conditioned. The night we ate there we had to wait from 5:00 till 6:15 to make a reservation to eat there at 7:30. It was 95F and everyone was soaked in sweat. When we ate it was 90F, limited menu of only five dishes. Buffet would not be replenished with some foods. ie fruit at breakfast! Buffet had raw food and seafood that was not on ice. Temperature in the restaurant was above 85. Snack section had very limited offerings that was the same all week. Ice machines weren’t working for most of the week long trip. Only one Elevator working in the section of the hotel I stayed. You can no longer eat dinner at the other resort that had a much bigger dinning area and large food selection. If your room key came anywhere near your phone it would need to be reprogrammed. This happened more than I can remember. All the entertainment was outside at night where it was very hot. Too hot to enjoy!"
