"Hotel is central to Oban and within easy reach of restaurants and other visitor attractions. Hotel is somewhat dowdy and this is particularly clear in the public area and the stair carpet, (threadbare in parts), leading to the second floor, (where my room was), which did not make a great impression. My room itself was generally satisfactory and roomy, having opted for the 'Superior Double Room' for an extra £5. Room heating was turned up full when I entered, which I had to turn down. The lack of double glazing in my room (and probably the other rooms...!) suggests that money is flying out the windows...! Staff were very friendly and helpful on arrival and during my short stay. I did not try the breakfast or bar so cannot comment on either."
