"Great place to stay if you are exploring Glencoe area. Incredibly kind hosts, great view, and perfect breakfast before heading out for the day. Would recommend this location as it’s close to Glencoe and another town 10minutes away that was awesome for dinner and shopping. We loved it here :)"

"We loved our two nights stay at Melfort House. It was peaceful idyll that restored us somewhat as we were nearing the end of our road trip through Scotland. Matthew is a wonderful host, and we felt welcome in his home. The breakfast offerings were top notch, and our room and bed were so comfortable. The location was perfect for a day trip to nearby Oban, which should not be missed, particularly for the seafood and Oban Distillery tour. Thank you Matthew for the opportunity to stay; we will long...

"The darling couple who own and run the B&B are extremely delightful. Our hostess started us off in the morning with a delightful breakfast, good cup of coffee and good advice or directions to our days activities. She made sure we enjoyed ourselves. The bonus was the view from the property was gorgeous."

"Hotel is central to Oban and within easy reach of restaurants and other visitor attractions.
Hotel is somewhat dowdy and this is particularly clear in the public area and the stair carpet, (threadbare in parts), leading to the second floor, (where my room was), which did not make a great impression. My room itself was generally satisfactory and roomy, having opted for the 'Superior Double Room' for an extra £5.
Room heating was turned up full when I entered, which I had to turn down. The lack of double glazing in my room (and probably the other rooms...!) suggests that money is flying out the windows...!
Staff were very friendly and helpful on arrival and during my short stay.
I did not try the breakfast or bar so cannot comment on either."
"My wife and I were stranded motorists at a nearby auto park with a flat tire, awaiting help from a local garage. The staff from the hotel picked us up and brought us to the lodge, then later, returned me to pick up the car. Above and beyond hospitality!"
"Great location for visiting Oban and hotel is very nice. Left an item behind and staff were unbelievably prompt in mailing it to me after my visit… very much appreciated!"
"spent two nights here in Oban in June. 2026. absolutely loved this hotel and would stay there again in a heartbeat. It's a very old building but the rooms have been renovated beautifully keeping the charming old features. pro tip. try to book room 6. it has amazing views and an ensuite. being an older pub hotel, you do get a private bathroom, but it is separated from your room by a few feet In a lot of the rooms. It's only a 5-minute walk to downtown Oban. make sure you go to the docks and get a huge serving of mussels fresh off the boat for £8. at a little green Shack right on the dock. They have a fully equipped kitchen downstairs. what I loved was the fact that for a very reasonable price you could buy food such as eggs, bread, yogurt, etc. for just a few pounds. They also had two fridges for customers to use. the staff were absolutely lovely. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be staying the next time we go to Oban. which we will because we absolutely loved the town."
"stayed there one night in June, it is an older facility but our room looked like it was recently renovated. The room was very clean but small. I did find it very expensive for what it was. But I guess that's what you have to expect in Fort William in June. Not much Hotel competition."
