"First I want to mention how friendly and wonderful the woman was at the front desk. The hotel had a very good energy and I only had positive interactions with staff and even other guests. The breakfast was simple but hit the spot. My only issue was that my room smelled like cigarette smoke. The bed was very comfy and I slept like a rock."

"My husband and I love the Empress. It is located right across from the beach and the boardwalk and the Pinball museum. We took a day and use the pool and it was fantastic. The people that work there are very kind and easy to talk to. We stay there about four times a year and never had a bad experience and the place is clean."

"I stayed in Rm 9. It was clean, modern and nicely decorated. A chair or small bench by the window would be a lovely addition. The breakfast was ok, because the bacon was cold, and the eggs watery. It was nice to have several outdoor places to enjoy coffee. I tried all three…patio, front porch and upper porch.😃 Steam trays and self serve along the bank of windows overlooking the patio might be a better option. Also, the offering of more than 1 fruit (I can’t eat cantalope), would be appreciated. The property is gorgeous, and so close to the beach. I’ll be back!"

"Awesome location. Next to the water, a couple of blocks from restaurants and shops. Staff was extra friendly and helpful. Decent breakfast - bagel and cream cheese, muffins, yougurt. Enjoyed sitting on the porch and seeing the ocean through breaks in the dune. It is a historic house so if stairs are an issue for you make sure you get a ground floor room."
