"Reception staff were lovely, very good value for food in the bar for a family of 4 they had a great deal. Everywhere was clean, our family room was larger than expected so plenty of room for everyone. Will certainly stay again "

"It is difficult to fault Kilkea Castle as every aspect of the property impressed. The little things therefore matter and small faults in maintenance, which should be dealt with in a luxury property, tend to stand out more. However, that is digging into the fine detail. So, first impressions carried through from first stepping inside with a warm welcome, the engaging housekeeping staff and superbly professional dining/breakfast room staff. On site activities are a nice touch and worth looking at. Food was well prepared and delivered well. Room was well appointed and tastefully decorated in keeping with the overall castle make-over. Would we go back, in a blink of an eye. Well located in Co.Kildare, the castle offers a great location to explore Ireland's spinal counties. Is Kilkea a great location to simply relax at, absolutely. Go on, indulge."

"Great parking underground and secure. Room was clean Shower flowed onto the slope in the bath so couldn't get under the shower. The noise from the busy motor way right beside it was extremely loud. I thought a window was open first but no, it was that loud! It woke me at 5am and that was it, couldn't get back to sleep "

"The Johnstown estate hotel has some great features and some things that need improving. Firstly, the bar and restaurant staff are great, some of the best Ive expereinced in an Irish hotel over the last few years. The food is very good and the lobby area was lovely and spacious to sit and enjoy a drink away from the main bar. While it was busy there was room for everyone. However the leisure area, pool etc was too busy and there was no supervision or staff watching the pool. It meant that a group of young lads took over the jacuzzi for an hour and noone else could use it. It could do with sone TLC. The hotel in general was way too warm. I know thsts a hard thing to control but with no air-conditioning my sleep was not great. I would still recommend this hotel and had a lovely time here. "
