You need to get your tickets in advance as we found it impossible to access tickets for the Alhambra and Generalife Gardens during our three day stay in Granada. Just wanted to revisit after our first visit 25 years ago and it would be helpful if they could keep a few tickets back for sale on the day.
We couldn’t get in as you need to book online in day, and they had sold out! We were able to walk the perimeter for free, which was still beautiful and took us down to a gorgeous little town with bars and local independent shops.
There are limited daily tickets, we were advised to book in advance 2 to 3 months.
If visiting in April or May you need to book tickets 2 or 3 months in advance.
I would definitely recommend taking one of the guided tours, they were excellent, and we each had personal earpieces so as not to interfere with other people by loud guides shouting to large groups of people. Do you go as early as possible in the day.
No need to book a guided tour. There are hand held devices to guide you and explain everything.
