"Two beautiful salt water pools, characterful room, helpful staff and an unbelievably huge, delicious buffet breakfast with everything you could want... plus more greek treats you probably haven't heard of! They upgraded us to a big, deluxe room with a very private balcony overlooking the Aegean Sea. Price was less than we paid in an old hotel in Athens for a tiny room not much bigger than the bed!
Alexandroupoli is a perfect counterpoint to Athens... quieter, more welcoming, less "sales-y).
The only thing for us North American visitors which takes some getting used to (but which applies in all of Greece) was not being able to flush the toilet paper after you wipe. (A small flip-top garbage can is always provided... blech!!) But it's a small price to pay for visiting one the most historical, beautiful and delicious countries on earth!
We would definitely stay here again if we ever make it back!"
