Very spacious suite, extremely clean and welcoming. Great position in the centre of the historic town. Also in an historic house. Bathrobes for the pool was a bonus. Lovely bathroom with a fantastic shower. The receptionist was very welcoming and helpful. It doesn't look like it but there are little car parks nearby still within the city walls.

It was an absolute pleasure to stay in Albergaria: the facilities were perfect, the location was just right and most importantly the staff were genuinely nice and helpful. I don't always trust the reviews 100% but this place deserves the scores - very well earned. Its important to mention a fantastic breakfast too. After leaving this hotel we stayed 4 nights at a large corporate 5 star hotel in Lisbon and the service and breakfast were nothing in comparison to Albergaria. I wish larger chain...

Lovely place with fab food,, nice and relaxing

Portugal and it's people are gentle and kind. We have visited many times and love it north to south. Tucked away at the end of a bumpy dirt road is a real gem. Only 7 rooms - ours even had a wood burning stove (yes it did). More oranges than you could eat in a lifetime and so quiet at night you can hear them grow. Excellent location, staff and breakfast.

The room was a good size and very clean. The bed was very comfortable. We arrived later than we had told the host, but Pedro was waiting for us and appeared within seconds of us getting out of the car. He explained everything and even showed us how to work the shower (which is lovely). The breakfast with freshly squeezed orange juice and home made preserves, was simple and perfect. Superb location. Tranquil well run and lovely hosts. Only let down by the rather cluttered and somewhat disorganised reception area. The rest was really lovely. Highly recommended.

Great place for a family vacation in the Douro region. We stayed in a cottage with two bedrooms and a living room. Plenty of space for a family of four with a little dog. There are lots of activities to entertain the little ones like two pools, one indoor and another outdoor, bicycle rides and wineward walks.

By far the best hotel we stayed at in Portugal. We have been travelling internationally for 30 years at this Parador matches the best hotel we have experienced anywhere in over 40 countries.

What a great experience! All that you can expect from a great resort on such a beautiful place. Suitable for all type of tourism but specially good for families.
