Alberbury war memorial.

The English Lodge and war memorial, Alberbury. The war memorial stands on the T-junction of the lane into Alberbury and the B4393 (to the left). The English Lodge is the partner to the Welsh Lodge ( 462517 ) a little further up the B4393, which is closer to the Welsh-English border but not in Wales. Both lodges are associated with Loton Park estate.

Alberbury and Shropshire plain. After negotiating the stile over the Loton deer park boundary wall ( 489182 ), this is what you see, from the shade of a sycamore. In the foreground a hay field, with the footpath going left along the line of green, following the outside of the deer park wall, to come out by the B4393 at 489196 near the T-junction ( 489209 ). Amongst the trees you can see the roof of the church in Alberbury ( 489239 ), beyond which is the Shropshire plain.

From Loton Park to the Wrekin In the foreground is grassland with trees of Loton deer park, which includes a couple of small fir plantations. The middle distance is largely arable farmland near the river Severn, crossed by the B4393 heading towards Ford. On the centre horizon is The Wrekin near Telford, approximately 27k distant in SJ6208.
