All the staff were so welcoming and they really took care of me, and they especially took care of my elderly mum. I would definitely stay here again and I would definitely recommend this lovely hotel.

The Good, the Bad, the Ugly
I was there for two nights. My first time in Ethiopia. GOOD - Nice ppl, eager to .help and please. Clean place and im hard to please. I loved the bed, so comfortable. They had a tub and shower with glass on both sides, I liked the style. Has a small elevator which was better than no elevator. Staff, front desk was all very helpful and polite. Maintenance was quick to reply. Airport transport was good and free. BAD - Some construction on a building next door kept the noise level high at times and some barking dogs but only during the day. The sliding bathroom window was not secure and the door plate was falling off which made it impossible for me to leave my room at times. And the safe was not working. So, I called the desk they sent maintenance, they fixed them all within an hour of my call. Bath tub was nice to have but Im 6"4" and it wasn't long enough for me to straighten out my legs and its a bit of a drop steeping out of the tub and the door stop is ill placed right where you step out. watch that first step. UGLY - I gave laundry some of my clothes to wash and they told me they would have them back same day but they didn't when it came time to leave I didn't have all my clothes and it stressed me out for a little while, they did find them in time for me to leave. The hotel is on a dirt road, and slums are your neighbors, so the surrounding neighborhood is not appealing. Conclusion - I would stay here again, the price was right and the ppl and inside was good.

Overall I had a fantastic stay at the Addissinia Hotel and would consider staying again. Location is great. Close to the airport and in Bole a pretty hip area of Addis. The free airport shuttle was great. I had some problems with my room (some lights not working, shower head broken and safe didnt work). Management put me in another room where everything was in working condition. Hotel breakfast is good. Enough variety. I also booked the driver, Josef, to take me on a customized city tour. He is a great guy and it was a good tour to see the main cites of the city. But the main selling point of the Addissinia Hotel is the amazing staff. All courteous, kind, helpful and attentive.

Good quality, convenient hotel. Rooms are of high standard, comfortable and very clean. Staff are friendly and the airport pick up is smooth. The location is a bit far from the city's main tourist attractions, but that seems to be true of most hotels where there is no natural 'city centre'. The location is good for the airport. It's functional and does the job. Very good pizza restaurant on the ground floor - freshly made and the best Italian food we ate on our trip. Sadly the hotel leaves the front door open all evening making the restaurant freezing cold after dark.

Great hotel easily accessible to airport.
This is a very nice hotel with great staff. Based on many reviews we read, so much depends on whether the reader has travelled widely in Africa and has reasonable expectations. The neighbourhood is not one that Westerners not used to majority-world urban environments would be comfortable in, but in the hotel everything was above average and expectations - again compared to similar places in Africa. Breakfast buffet was excellent, menu for lunch was good - no need to venture out looking for food. Coffees available from the bar in the lobby, and the pizza bar which is open long hours made great pizza. Our plans changed and we needed to come back a week later to Addis unexpectedly, and didn't hesitate to book back in, and brought some friends who took a room as well. Excellent value.

Its not at all matching with the rating it has got online. There are many better hotels may be found in the same cost. Breakfats menu is not all good. It may be good for Locals who may prefer that kind of food. But not at all to the travellers from other part of world.

Good Hotel
This is not a 5 star luxury hotel, but it is a great hotel for someone looking for a safe, clean, and economical stay. If you are looking for high end or "business" (i.e. your company is paying, not you), you may want to look in other areas of the city where you will find the expensive yellow taxis.

Not as good as it was used to be.
I'd stayed here once before, a year ago, when it was new. Now it is beginning to look a little uncared for. But the beds are still very good. Service is also not quite as good as it was. For example, the safety box in our room was locked when we arrived, and it took 50 minutes and half a dozen phone calls to get someone to come and open it.

A lovely clean centrally located hotel
After three other experiences with small mid priced hotels in Addis Ababa this hotel is perfect. It's immaculately clean and comfortable, the staff was wonderful the owner was courteous and everything worked which is been an unusual experience for me in Africa. The hotel is located around the corner from a massive construction project of a new stadium. However this did not detract from the quality or services of the institution. The food was good It is centrally located in the Bole area of Addis Ababa and it's about a 5 to 10 minute drive to the airport. The breakfast buffet was delicious and the pick up and drop off services to the airport were wonderful. Although this is not an American luxury chain hotel, the services were quite comparable for one third the price. I'm looking forward to my next return.

Back a Second Time
Our first night in Ethiopia before going on a tour was spent at the Addissinia Hotel. The staff was personable and willing to help in any way, even storing a piece of luggage until we returned in a week. They also provide a great airport shuttle service, a tasty breakfast, and a friendly bar for adult beverages. Try a deep tissue massage, you won't regret it especially after a trip into the Danakil Depression. We returned to the Addissinia for our last night before flying out of Addis. We would definitely stay at the Addissinia in the future.

Reasonable cost for a nice little hotel
My husband and I love the Addissinia. The staff are always nice, the rooms are nice (if a bit small), and overall the room service food is good (one of the few hotels in Addis that I might actually go to just for dinner). The breakfast buffet is a little weak (but then again, other than the Hilton buffet, I could say that for every hotel we've stayed at in Addis). The rooms do get quite warm though - and I would recommend that they eventually put a wall fan permanently in the rooms (since the rooms are a bit small, the floor fan takes up space AND takes up one of the very few wall outlets).

OK, Not Great Option near Airport
Overall this hotel is OK if you have business in the neighborhood or need to be very close to the airport - otherwise there are nicer options at the same price point elsewhere in Addis. I stayed for business so the location wasn't a problem, but if you're on holiday and want to be within walking distance of restaurants / sights / public transportation then this is not the place. The hotel itself is ok - bedding is good, rooms have balconies, nice TVs, refrigerators, bathtubs, etc. One drawback is lack of carpeting in rooms, which wouldn't be a big deal except that Addis can be quite cold at night (and the rooms also have neither heat nor AC) so its very cold in the rainy season. The first room I was in was dark and had twin beds, and the staff was happy to let me change rooms the next morning. Staff are generally friendly and helpful, in the daytime at least - the night front desk staff are shaky which, given how many flights arrive at odd late hours in Addis, can be a problem. The night I checked in I exchanged a few dollars for Birr and the staff who did the transfer tried the old short one big bill "mistake". It was the same staff member who checked me out a week later, again late at night, and he was both nervous and clearly didn't know how to do a lot of the basic things you'd expect (e.g. print of detail for expense account reimbursal) so the checkout took almost half an hour - good thing I was leaving a little early.

I had a 24 hour layover in Addis and needed a place to relax and catch up on sleep. The hotel was perfect for this-- the food at the restaurant was good and the spa helped me unwind.

Room got better the longer I stayed in Ethiopia
The ONLY room I stayed in while in Ethiopia that HAD a blow dryer, tea kettle, iron,shampoo,and mini fridge IN the room. Had HOT water also!;just lines connected backwards. (Use the "cold".) Clean enough. Poor maintenance though. Light OVER bathroom sink appeared to be on a timer. Could not turn it on in the day time to put on my makeup. No AC. They brought me a fan straight way. Great employees. I would stay again. Not far from airport.

Decent hotel with good service, but needs some refurbishment. Shower only had luke warm water and the general maintenance was not the best. But good value for money.
