"I liked the lodge type of feel the hotel had. The rooms are functional and might be in need of tlc in terms of upgrades to the mattresses and wardrobe. The room was otherwise clean and comfortable. I appreciated the black out curtains in the room which did help with sleep during travel. Breakfast wasn’t what I’d call continental; frozen breakfast sandwiches, cereal, yogurt packs, and sugary snack options. Staff was helpful and kind. The pool/spa were definitely well maintained and a highlight of the property as well as their restaurant."

"Liked the classic 1900's style of the building, lobby, woodwork and furniture. Great location, steps from Lake Superior. Can have drinks and great food on the patio overlooking the lake. Breakfast was well above average. Our standard room wasn't special, but adequate. AC unit and refrig were both noisier than typical. Good cleanliness throughout the hotel. Ashland is a lovely little city. Bike and pedestrian friendly, walking paths and parks along the lake, history, murals, lots to do."

Everything was fine except the HVAC system was so loud I doubt I would have slept much if I weren't exhausted from hiking and biking. It ran even when I tried to turn it off, but not in an even, white noise kind of way. This was in Suite 3 in the Trophy Lodge. Other lodging options may be different."
