Staff are lovely - although there is a risk of wine recommendations becoming a sales pitch. There are lots more hotel-organised trips available than before. "Just come back from 10 days at Horizon Beach Hotel. The property was clean and appropriately fitted out for a three star hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is a short walk from the centre of the resort. There are ample car parking space on-site. Overall I thought the Horizon Beach Hotel offered good value for money. "

"We had a 2 night stay as part of our 2 week holiday in another part of Crete. We absolutely loved it. The room and facilitates were really good. Very comfortable beds. Fantastic view from our room big balcony with chairs. Great pool and sun longers, swing seats in lovely grounds. The owners were lovely people and should be so proud of their achievements. Included breakfast was good sitting on the communal balcony enjoying the view. We had dinner one night and were very impressed 15 euros...

"Although only a two star rated hotel, and because of this only requesting a 50c. per night accommodation tax, the Sofia has a big plus in that guests have access to a swimming pool and snackbar/drinks bar area which is part of the Sofia apartments unit just down the road. As the hotel is family - run, the lady on reception also cooks breakfast, offering a good range of continental -style foods and also freshly cooked eggs, which can either be eaten in the dining room or in a cool open-air...

"This was our first trip anywhere in Greece. We chose Plakias on the south west cost of Crete, and I'm so glad we did as the weather was stunning, for October, as was Crete itself. The Sea View apartments were a lucky find, too. They are clean, modern, light, good value and have a view of the sea, as the name suggests, which is about a three minute walk away. "Lovely views for 2nd floors and above. Adorable garden ti sit & have breakfasts. Simple but comfortable beds & pillows. A/C if needed. Perfect little balcony. Clean bathroom, plenty of space. Fridge in room, although plugged in, didn’t appear to be working but I didn’t need it. Very short walk down steep hillside road to marina & all the restaurants - good exercise coming back up. Would highly recommend staying here. Bring your appetite as lots of food at breakfast."

"Perfect villa for relaxation, away from noisy places, solitude with mountains, sea and swimming pool, two beautiful beaches nearby. There are 2 villas (if both occupied might get a bit crowded). Villa is in very good condition, clean, kitchen with all needed appliances, car needed. Would be wise to validate your arrival coordinates with the owner (is a villa not a hotel with reception so they have to organise to welcome you)."
