Love it!

I’ve stayed at this hotel a few years ago and I totally loved everything about it that time. So because I was going back to Palm Springs, there was no need for me to look for any other hotel. The only problem was that, because I went back there during Labors day, the hotel was packed with family with kids. I couldn’t enjoy the pool at all as well as around the fireplace outside was messy. Other than that, it was perfect! Beautiful building, awesome service and confortable bed. I’d definitely go back!!

Traveller's tip on recreational activities

Do the Arial Tram!!! Don’t expect that you’ll only see the nice view; it way more than just the view!!! If you like hiking, wear tennis shoes. On top of Mountain is about 30 degree cooler and full of green with trail of 30 minutes to 1hr 1/2 minutes. If you love outdoor, you can even camp. Just find out what the requirements are for the camping because it seems like you need a permit :)

Paradise Found

This is a great hotel. So comfortable! We were able to get an early check-in to enjoy more time next to the most remarkable pool. Fun things to do all the time. The staff are more than willing to go over and above to make your stay memorable. We will definately go back.

Children eat free at many of the restaurants. They offer excellent food and have great service.

Hotel provides plenty of cold water throughout pool and lobby area. Pack light snacks to hold kids over as the meals at the resort can get pricey.

Loved the hotel!

Beautiful grounds, great pools and fitness center, comfortable beds, clean room and facilities. On-site dining was a bit too pricey for us so we had all meals off site. Service was slow and sometimes 2-3 calls to the front desk was required to receive service. We had four people in our room, but was always provided 3 sets of towels.

Great pools, planned activities for small children while (e.g.poolside movies, live characters walking around (e.g. SpongeBob). Great rates can be found in August, but be prepared for very hot temperatures (95-120 degrees).

Can’t wait to go back!

The hotel was wonderful upon check in we recieved a FREE upgraded room! It was a room & 1/2. Beautiful room, two large walk-in closets, corner room with balcony golf course views from two sides of the room. Oversized room with bonus seating area very comfortable. Hotel offer alot of family friendly activities, ie: movie nights open are poolside, art projects. sand castle contests, kids eat free! Wondrful family vaction, a great place to take the kids and still have relaxing adult time...

Cozy!!

We were very impressed with our room. Because we have no kids, we were offered the quiet corner room. It was very spacious like suite and the view from the window was beautiful. Besides, because we were customers of Expedia, the resort fee and the internet access fee were included in the room rate. However, please check your bill when you check out of the hotel. They charged it once. Anyway, we want to go back to this hotel again!!

Always reliable for a relaxing time

Probably the 10th time we’ve stayed at the Esmeralda and enjoyed it as much as ever. We really liked the upgrades they’ve made these past couple of years. Fitness Center is really nice and the pool was well maintained. Some minor construction going on for the new lounge but it did not interfere with our enjoyment. We’ve always loved the location as it is close to El Paseo as well as La Quinta where we like to shop and dine.

By far the best hotel in the desert

We visit Palm Springs and the surrounding cities several times a year and last weekend was the first time I have stayed at the Esmeralda. I loved the hotel, the pool, the lounging area and my kids loved the movies they show by the pool at night. Food was excellent and the hotel staff was extremly helpful and nice. We are going back again next month.

Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay

If you have kids take toys and buckets with you they have sandy area right before you enter the pool.

Great stay!

I visited Palm Springs and stayed at the Esmerelda for a couple of nights from NJ. My friend and I got a free upgrade to a pool/mountain view as we checked in. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The food at the hotel was delicious. It was a very family oriented atmopshere. The only downfall was that the spa was expensive and there is a charge to even step foot in the spa. But other than that, I would go back if I stayed in Palm Springs again.

A few disappointments.

This was our 8th year spending some time after Christmas at the Esmerelda. There were a few indications that indicated they are trying to save money and were not well received: 1. The valet parking area had been greatly expanded resulting in many fewer non valet parking spaces in front of the hotel. This necessitated us parking in the parking structure behind the hotel which was not convenient. What was particularly irritating is the valet parking area was only about 10% occupied during our five day stay. This despite a complaint to the concierge and a written comment to the hotel manager. 2. When we got to our room we requested a refrigerator and additional pillows which the bell boy said he would take care of. Several hours later after returning to the room after dinner we still had not received either of these items. A call to housekeeping resulted in the refrigerator being brought, but no pillows. The bell boy said he would return with the pillows, but never did. Had to call housekeeping again and finally got the pillows about an hour later. 3. One of my favorite items at the hotel breakfast had always been the peppered bacon. Well, it’s no longer served. Just regular bacon. I did not ask why, but I suspect it was a casualty of cost cutting. Also, the dinner menu seemed much more expensive than before.

Better than the Best in Oxnard!

My wife and I spent two nights at the Esmeralda and we were plan to return with some friends so they can see what a nice place this is.

NOT WHAT I EXPECTED

FIRST THEY SAID I WAS GETTING A ROOM WITH A RESORT VIEW, YOU MUST THINK SOMETHING LIKE THE GARDEN, NO ALL THAT I COULD SEE FROM MY WINDOW WAS THE CARS GETTING VALET PARKING, I CALL THE LOBBY AND THEY TOLD ME THAT WAS THE CATEGORY OF ROOM I BOUGHT FROM EXPEDIA.

Leisure getaway with family (wife, 4 & 6 yr. olds)

Quality, peaceful resort. If you have children ages 1 month to 9 years old, this is the place to bring them for a relaxing getaway. The deepest pool depth was 4 feet. There is a sand beach with a walk-in ramp into the main pool. Kids over age 9 will get bored. For them, there is a Knott’s Soak City nearby. This resort is meant for young families. The breakfast buffet is wonderful and high quality. It is the first buffet that I have been to that had an industrial strength juicer available. They had all of the veggies and fruits precut on plates, so all you had to do was drop them into the juicer. It is a better deal to book the breakfast through Expedia than to pay for it off the menu. We had no interest in the spa. I played with my boys in the pool, read poolside under an umbrella and relaxed. Our room was in excellent condition. We had 2 queen beds and enjoyed a good nights sleep.

Bring your own inflatable pool accessories (rafts, rings, beach balls). Book the buffet breakfast through Expedia and you will save a bundle.

Beautiful Hotel

I have spent my past weekend here and my first thought when entering the property was that their photos did do justice. Very beautiful hotel, with a great pool area. I was surprised and impressed with the size our quite spacious standard room. Dinner at Sirocco was satisfying and very fulfilling, considering their very small portions? The bar Stir was offering live music, however I would recommend a more lively, dancey genre, esp. to help attract younger crowds. Overall, beautiful resort! A great place to stay!

There is a nightclub at the Desert Springs JW Marriot down the street. They seem to bring in a large, younger crowd with up-to-date music.

Very beautiful hotel, hotel staff was friendly and very helpful, and great pool restaurants were a bit expensive. I wouldn’t go back when its so hot since everyday was about 107 degrees. And there wasn’t much to do for people my age(22) in palm springs but my boyfriend and I had a good time.

Sirocco is a lovely restuarant with good customer service just be prepared to spend money.

Very Nice For The Price, But Look Out For Surcharge

The hotel was a good deal. The rooms are very nice, clean and comfortable. However, the air conditioning was a bit weak, the pool was crowded and the water was lukewarm, and the hotel tacks on a fairly significant daily "resort fee" that I did not know about until I received my bill at checkout. This is NOT factored in to the Expedia price! Buyer beware.

Great Hotel, Terrible Spa

The hotel staff was very pleasant and helpful. The hotel room was clean, up to date (the outside of the hotel probably needs a remodel soon), and comfortable. However, the purpose of my trip was to enjoy the Esmeralda Spa, and the experience was terrible. The staff at the front desk of the spa was extremely rude and unhelpful; so rude that it actually had a negative impact on my trip. The services I received were mediocre, and at times, unprofessional. I would still recommend this hotel. It also seems suited for families. However, I would not waste time (and money!) at the spa.
