I like that the property had spa and restaurant facilities and probably the nicest, most well equipped Gym of any hotel I’ve ever stayed in.
Parking was easily available but worth noting that there is a daily charge of £12 if you don’t book direct which I wasn’t aware of

The room was not cleaned properly, the bin was not taken out, and the sides were not wiped down.
The bed seems old and uncomfortable.
Pillows flat and old
Room service - was dull
Hotel requires a refit if it wants to charge the price is does

Room 401 was freezing!! Second time I had been out at the end on the fourth floor. Seems to be what happens if booked through Hotels.com and not direct. Room services menu needs a bit of work. Has been the same for years. Rooms are also looking very tired

Our stay is good. Some issue like The hair dryer and towel rails are faulty.pool water was a bit cold.but the spa massage lady named Yvonne is magnificent .

Quality hotel with excellent service and friendliness. Very clean and comfortable. It suited us for its location due to proximity to where we were visiting but the area isn’t the best. Overall, would visit again without any doubt.
Had to book breakfast time which didn’t have much availability - 8, 8.15 or 10.45am on a Sunday. Breakfast though was quality offering and service.

The hotel itself was really lovely, however I had a bad fall in the room down a step that had no warning of it, I have very badly bruised legs and arms. Told reception next day and the girl who although very nice just said “oh dear” no record for accident book or generally caring. I emailed manager but have ha no reply which is very disappointing

Hotel was superb, really comfy bed, well equipped room.
Breakfast was table service and had great selection. We had spa day, the treatments and lunch and cream tea that came as part of the package were fabulous.
Had dinner one night and although busy we were happy sitting listening to the live wsinger who was very good.

The hotel is fine, clean and welcoming.
I do have an issue with the £12 parking fee which is only charged if you book via this or any other discount site. I challenged the team at the hotel on this today and they blamed the commission the have to pay on bookings.
They never used to charge guests and started around 18 months or so ago hence why I now use Oulton Hall which is free parking, near by with the same facilities.

Convenient, comfortable with all the facilities you need for a relaxing stay. We split our journey from Devon to Northumberland and it worked a treat for us!

Well placed as a base. Staff friendly, helpful and usually professional however some gatherings of staff at end of shifts in public places were not what I expected.

I've stayed several times at this hotel over the last few years and recently feel like it's not as relaxing and welcoming as it used to be. I like to book via Expedia to use my points rather than directly but am now charged for parking and spa access as a result - there seem to be more hidden extras now than there used to be - in spite of being a regular visitor to the hotel. I will go back as it's close to family and it's nostalgic to visit for me and I enjoy the pool and the robes ; it also has a great work space. I would however hope not to have to pay for the spa and gym access (I couldn't get access to a treadmill on either visit) or parking on top of the room rate.
