This is one of my favorite places to stay anywhere in India. We have stayed here 3 times over the last 15 years, and the quality of the place remains outstanding. Located very close to the center of Udaipur, coming to the Shikarbadi is like entering a quiet retreat, surrounded by nature. So fun to watch the deer, monkeys, peacocks, and visit the horses. It is a great place to relax for the day, enjoy the food, sit around the pond and watch the kingfishers. Love it.

I liked the location which is semi rural. The room was very rustic, and pleasant to stay in. Alas, the venue booked a wedding, and the noise level was unacceptable, and very high. Wi-fi was included, but mostly didn't work. The management need to decide if they are in the hotel or events business.
Not value for Mony
I paid for room but hotel's room are not justify with his value
7000is not for this type ofhotel

A little overpriced for what you are getting.
Good hotel but a little over priced. Rooms are ok, could have been better as compared to other HRH Group hotels. The best thing is the Deer Park and watching live wild deer and wild boars. Other then that, hotel is ok. Nothing exceptional.

Relaxing two days
Good place to stay. The buffet breakfast need introspection. Half of the items are always unpopular items and hence people donot tocuh at all.
Great haritage hotel, near forget like are surrounded by mountains, and senic. Plenty of wild life surrounding the property, rooms are good size, clean and have view. Don't take rooms 26 and 27 they are not worth the money. Food is also good
the rooms genuinely feel like hunting cabins.. - the grey stone and the view on the small artificial lake is soothing.. small birds, ducks etc and monkeys.. deers and peacocks come to feed a few feet from the rooms..thoroughly enjoyed it.. theres a nice contrast between the landscaped modest garden and the raw rugged jungle and mountains around it.. had lunch here which was very good.... if you are inclined to the wilderness.. this is a great place , theres a rugged wild feeling.. a faint smell of horses, cackle of hens and turkeys bred here.. small birds, ducks etc and monkeys keep breaking the silence.. its a bit out of Udaipur but i prefer that... the city is too claustrophobic and panders to foreign tourists.... visit during the day to see the palace ..dinner on lake pichola would be the only thing you miss.. but tables there are cleverly "reserved" .. bleach your skin pale and u should get a table! ;)

Nice environment and peaceful
It is a good property if you want to be away from the crowd. Had a very nice feel being surrounded by a cricket ground, stables with the smell and the sound of horses, the lake and the jungle around. We stayedn in winter and the room was warm. The amenities were not up to the mark sometimes but the staff were very prompt in fixing it. The food at the breakfast was not bad.
Nice modern and quiet resort, very large room with beautiful view over mountains and a nightly troupe of lengur monkeys, peacocks and deer for entertainment. It's a bit out of town which necessitates a taxi to get anywhere, but it's not that far and besides taxis are very cheap. Since we were there during the off-season (June) we got a very good deal and we might have been the only guests there at the time. I highly recommend it.

Ok hotel for a large price
We were overall satisfied with the hotel but we thought it was pricey for what we got. The rooms are pretty god except for the bathroom which is a bit disappointing. It is definitely too far from the city to actually enjoy Udaipur so I would just recommend it for th night of arrival or the night when you leave.

Amazing, very different!
We booked one double and one triple room for two nights, and everything was ready when we arrived. It was an amazing experience, very different to all the other hotels we stayed in Rajasthan. The rooms were large and comfortable, and the staff were very good. We enjoyed watching the cricket match (on their private pitch), and the horses being groomed and trained, but best of all was watching the wildlife, especially the deer, around the lake.

Enjoy your stay
a bit off center; not all staff fluent in English, resulting in hard times, if no driver is booked in advance. overall wonderful facilities, being a former hunting lodge for royal family.
only con: some of the staff members are a bit too pushy when it comes to tipping.
Away from the main tourist area but only a 10-15 min. cab ride from museums, lake etc. Very peaceful, clean, quiet and relaxing place with excellent service by restaurant staff. Only needed more wine selection. Highly recommend this vintage hunting lodge and polo ground.
Poor location, far from the city and the main road. No transportation, poor food and expensive. Overall a bad experience.

Beautiful Setting
Shikarbadi is located on its own lake with a deer park attached. Rooms are a good size but are seriously in need of an overhaul - they are clean but tired. Food is generally good but a little expensive. This is offset by the room pricing which is definitely lower than other hotels in its class in Udaipur. The access road really does need major repair and resurfacing.

Quiet and beautiful
Such a good deal for 4,000 roupies, great view, quiet (hard to find in India), clean. A small paradise with deers, peacocks, birds...
But it is far from downtown, you need a driver (200 roupies) to go there (5-10min).
Don't take a driver for the day, we did it, it was expensive (2400 roupies) and useless (you can walk in the all city or use a "Tuc Tuc" for 500 roupies...)
Shikarbadi Hotel is absolutely beautiful and the service wonderful. Felt like royalty there. I definitely plan on staying there again and for a longer stay next time. Lots of peacock, spotted deer, monkeys, crane and majestic Mewar horses.
