We have a great stay in visiting Lugano for the very first time what an amazing place. We stayed mid Dec just as all the xmas festivities were getting under way. Walter au Lac is brilliantly positioned right at the centre of the lake front with everything within 5 mins walk

Old world by Lake Lugano
A nice, friendly, early 20th century elegant hotel in a classy neighborhood. Can't beat the view of Lake Lugano!!

Location, location, location! Lovely lake view from my balcony; I could have stayed forever! Rooms were clean and comfortable, but small. Nice buffet breakfast. I would certainly recommend.

Room with a view!
Comfortable room with amazing views of Lugano. Our room with the private balcony was very special. Breakfast included was a nice surprise. Loved our stay.

Lugano stay
We stayed only 1 night and loved this hotel. Location was perfect and we had a beautiful view of the lake. Our room was spacious and beds very comfortable. There was a balcony door also. Staff were lovely & welcoming. Location was perfect and easy to access.

Nice hotel, but outdated smelly bathrooms.
For the cost and star rating it was a bit disappointing. Breakfast was good, staff were nice and reception was helpful but the room was dated, mouldy, had smelly plumbing from the shower drains and really let it down. Generally the hotel has a great location with easy funicular access. Could be a gem of a hotel if they updated their rooms.

Beautify Area.
Stayed 2 nights. Our room was 31 and it had a great view overlooking the lake. Good location for restaurants and walking around town. It was an easy beautiful walk (less then 2 miles) to the funicular, which is a must. The breakfast was very good, with a variety to choose from. The staff was friendly. One thing we did not know is the hotel has a coupon book to get 20-30% off on activities. A side note… the taxi drivers will rip you off. Make sure they turn the meter on.

Great location, friendly staff
Great location right on the lake and walking (& funicular) distance to the station. Good breakfast every morning. Comfortable beds, coffee/tea & fridge in room, nice balcony overlooking the lake. Staff at front desk and at breakfast were all very friendly & helpful. We really enjoyed our stay

We had a lake view room but the windows facing the lake are small. There was not an opener in the room when we had mini bar beverage included in the stay and couldn’t open the glass cap.

This is not a fancy hotel but is charming friendly and very clean. The staff was super friendly. It is right on the lakefront and a wonderful location in Lugano. I would stay here again.

Central location with amazing lake views
Very small single room, but the AC worked great and my patio was wonderful. Shower temperature did a little bit of “self-adjusting” and the stall was tiny but functional. Amazing lake view and great price, especially considering the location and the free breakfast

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Walter Auc! The pictures don’t lie- the rooms have amazing lake views from the balconies. Very helpful front desk and great breakfast, lovely walking path at the lake made for a fabulous few days for us! The one thing to note - we had one very small room for 3 nights and the last night had a much bigger room. If you book there, ask about the different sizes - all have great views so don’t worry about that. I would stay there again!

Beautiful lake front view! Lots of restaurants nearby. The walk to/from the train station is challenging downhill from the train station and a steep uphill walk. We took a taxi both ways

Then walk direction lake 2 minutes and you reach the hotel. Otherwhise by Bus TPL Nr. 4 to bus stop Piazza Rezzonico in front of our hotel (total 7 minutes). Best regards!F. Cereda, General Manager

This is the third or fourth time we have stayed at this hotel. We really enjoy it, it's clean, very convenient for walking around and eating options, and the area is so beautiful. Great spot!

Charming little hotel in a top location
Walter du Lac is an excellent hotel for Lugano. Firstly the location is superb, could not be better with lake views, town centre right there and boats departing from 50m away. We paid a tad extra for the room with the balcony which i loved. Spent some time out there just soaking upbthe view. The room was simple with a small bathroom but had everything we needed. Only small complaint would be that the bath itself was very narrow so it was a tight squeeze for my slim but tall husband. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Loved the hot tub on the 5th floor terrace. Finally the breakfast was plentiful and varied and much more than I was expecting. All in all an excellent option and highly recommended.
