“Useful central location”

The hotel is located in the very centre of Lugano right next to the funicular rail which takes you up the train station. This may be convenient for travelers arriving or departing from the train station, however if your room is positioned on the side of the tracks, be prepared for the noise. For the price, especially in Switzerland (I can bet it is the most expensive country in the world!) and the location, the hotel is more than adequate. For people on a budget it is a fair choice, particularly because it is very clean and functional. There is sufficient furniture and the bathrooms are spotless. My problem was with the service. They tried to charge me for an extra guest, when my reservation explicitly said that I had booked a twin room for 2 people. I wasted half an hour of my time on arguing my case, but they would not give in. I had to log onto my account in Expedia from their world's slowest computer in the lobby and show them my reservation. They then proceeded to check every bit of small text to find out how they could charge me more. Not having found anything, they finally let me go and removed my extra guest charge from the total bill. I was late for a meeting as the direct result of the delay. No apology was given.

“Lugano trip”

Workman painting foyer when we arrived, smell of paint throughout the ground floor and nothing to inform you that there was wet paint. Rooms were clean but very basic. You were able to hear the person in the next room use the toilet, shower, hair dryer and TV......... Staff sat and used the breakfast area along with guests.............. Our room was next to the vernicular railway, so every 30 minutes you had the very noisey rumble and I mean very noisey, not able to rest between the hours of 06h00 until 11h30 at night because of this. :(
