Fantastic hotel, great location, lovely little snug bar - just a shame that the only two lifts in the hotel are either ridiculously slow and/or out of action. Adds at least 15 mins on to any journey just to get down from any floor above 1

We stayed here in 2018 and there were a few amenities that we liked and brought us back. So we were disappointed when we discovered those amenities are no longer available. One was a mobile phone with cell data, allowing us to use google maps and make local phone calls as we travelled around the area. This was a real saving as we didn't have to buy a sim card for our own phones. Another thing we liked was the ability to buy Day Passes for the Tram at the front desk. Now, that isn't an option. The last thing was the beach chairs and windscreens that are no longer available. We didn't spend one day on the beach for this reason. A few other notes worth mentioning : there was a Laundry bag in our room and when I asked about the rates, I was told that there was a fire in the Laundry room so that service wasn't available but I could go to the laundromat down the street. They didn't say when the Laundry option would be available. I would have to say that dirty cutlery and cups were a problem every time we ate at the breakfast and even in the dining room. Should we return to Scheveningen, we won't be staying at this hotel.

Rude head receptionist and disapointing stay
I booked a partial sea view room but on first floor over looking carpark. This was not a partial sea view room by any stretch of the imagination. I had also sent an e mail to the hotel to confirm view and reception manager said noone has had time to look at e mails since before xmas and she thought this was ok. And was very rude as i am English and spoke in english but i speak perfect dutch so could understand her remarks made to her co worker Coffee machine cleaned at 9pm so no coffee available and the bar last orders 930. On new years day. Reception manager quite rude and had no customer service skills at all. When i asked why the bar closed she said staff also wanted to go home and not many people around. There was a few of us who were a bit surprised. It was a special birthday so we went back to the room. Very very disapointing stay !!

The room was newly renovated, great bed, cozy. Outside of the Hotel looks a bit dilapidated, but the inside is nice and modern. Corridors were a bit cold, also the room, but heating worked well. Bathroom was a bit small. Breakfast was great, eventhough a bit strange, that reservation is needed, especially, when overcrowding is not prevented by it. The hotel is nicely located directly at the beach with look to the sea. All in all: good hotel, nice staff, had a great stay.

Great location
Very nice hotel and great location. Parking quite expensive. At the back you can hear the traffic and trams and the room next door was playing very loud music after 10pm but stopped upon asking twice.

The beach view was amazing... but the pictures on Expedia did not match the room even slightly. The photo looked nice the room unfortunately was not. The bathroom was kinda funky and the room Also , the tv didn’t work...

The Carlton Beach hotel has a fabulous location. However, it is not a cheap hotel, although judging from their constant attempts to sell additional things at inflated prices, it clearly thinks it does not charge enough. Just one example, they charge 15 euros/day for bikes from a local bike hire store, whereas if you do it yourself, it is just 8.50. Breakfast is 20 euros/day, whereas you can get as good a breakfast for half the price from one of the many cafes on the beach a few yards away. We had a number of frustrations with the hotel. We reserved a room with a double bed, but were given a room with twins instead, and when we asked about this, there was no apology, just “well that sometimes happens” and a complete lack of concern. When we checked it, there was a group being seen, but only one person, leaving us waiting for more than a quarter of an hour, during which time the person in front of me gave up waiting. Even though a number of office staff passed by, none offered to help check in other guests. The attitude of the staff aside, the rooms were comfortable and the bathrooms have been modernised. It was nice to have a kettle and tea and coffee. The location is fabulous, just by the beach, just north of the pier.

Greatly located hotel just a few steps away from the beach, the service on a very high level did not like the fact that I received a room with a view of the city and not the beaches, but it is not a big disadvantage :)

The Hotel apart of the reception and the dining area shows really dirty. The propriety wanted to charge a higher price than the one confirmed by Hotel.com. My room was really loud from the trams stopping in front of the building. Unfriendly personnel.

Excellent position to the city or to the dunes/beach.. balcony facing sea. It was a cold and windy winter stay, but cozy inside and swimming/fitness/sauna were nice, not busy at all in January. Breakfast choices good and roomy seating at beach-side windows. Friendly all around. Free parking behind hotel at beach head (Jan-Feb) and street-Tram station right behind Hotel too! Older architecture and furnishings, but functionality and vibes matter more.. so if it is too cold for swimming in the sea and you want a hotel with a pool (and a view of the sea), this is it!!!

Front desk staff was very rude. Room was not as requested . Was told that it was not possible. Asked for a sea view. On the second day there was a terrible smell coming from the shower. Told front desk about it and it was brushed off . Was told that’s a problem with the whole first floor . If they knew there were problems with that floor why did they put us on that floor. It was off season and the hotel was empty. They only staff member that cared was the house keeper. She apologized profusely
