We booked this hotel based on excellent reviews from many people. Cited were the warm hosts and good location. For me, the staff was helpful and pleasant, but certainly not overly warm or welcoming.
We requested a room on the main floor so as not to have to carry our bags up the stairs, as they were heavy and there is no elevator.
Our room, while small, was well appointed with a comfortable bed, nicely remodeled bath and nice amenities, such as toiletries, hair dryer and internet. A glass of complementary wine was offered in the early evening.
The main problem for us was that it was quite hot in Santiago during the 3 days of our visit. This hotel is not air-conditioned, which, for Americans, is a big surprise. The room, when we checked in at 2pm, was stifling. We had to leave the lone window open all day and all night(no screen). We felt safe, as the room was an interior room facing the courtyard. However, the courtyard was noisy and we could hear doors slamming and the clatter of dishes from the adjoining breakfast room.
On the plus side, the buffet breakfast was bountiful and way more than we expected.
The hotel has charm and is well-located, near parks and public transportation.
I think if the weather had not been so very hot, our rating would have been much higher.
