Very friendly and helpful staff. They gave us a choice between Hotel Montreal, and the Hotel D'Este next door. They own both properties. We chose Hotel D'Este, and they upgraded us to a balcony room, so we had a great view of St, Maria Maggiore from the balcony. Great location. 5 min. Walk to Termini, 15 to the Colosseum. Close walk to the good restaurants in Monti.

Hotel was recently acquired by adjacent hotel; hotel Montreal is in serious need for update and maintenance. Room as tight; example one could not use the toilet due to its proximity to shower stall Management is aware of problems and will be working on finding solutions.

Worst Hotel ever
It was the worst place I have ever stayed. The bed was so uncomfortable and we would have left, but we couldn't get in anywhere else that looked decent. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The staff were extremely rude and the so called breakfast was disgusting. Location was okay, but so are many other good hotels.

The property is ok. But on night of 16th of July , when we check in, the receptionist (not Italian in original) is very rude. He did not find my reservation from Expedia. He did not find my names throughout his list. He told lie to me that all the rooms in Hotel Montreal now is closed. I tried to contact Expedia, but he wanted to get us out, telling: you are not my guest, no reservation, if you want to stay here you have to pay 70 EUR for tonight. Finally, Expedia contacted him. The truth Expedia hire room through other agency. This is the problem of Expedia. Terrible, terrible. I had spent much money for calling long distance to Expedia and took almost 2 hours to check in in talking with this terrible staff at his hotel. On the day I check out he still required me of the voucher from other agency (Jambo). Never again there!! and bye to Expedia.

Great location to Roma Termini & some attractions
We booked this hotel, simply for the location and because we are walkers, felt it would be ideally located to walking through Rome. The hotel itself is partially a residence. When we arrived, the entrance to the hotel was empty and when we buzzed, we were advised that we were to check in at the hotel next door (Villa D'Este). The staff were great and informative, providing a suggestion for lunch as we were hungry. The room was small, probably one of the smallest we've encountered in Europe. The bathroom was tiny and just this side of functional, (you had to leave a light on to use in the evening, otherwise you were banging your knees into the shower). The mattress was extremely thin and in need of replacement it was very uncomfortable. I wouldn't say it was quiet, but the street noise was limited, and after 10 p.m. pretty much nonexistent. It was easy to walk to attractions, but we recommend taking a hop on hop off, if you are not familiar with the city, it will help you get oriented. It took us 3 hours to locate an attraction that was only 25 minutes from our hotel :-( . There are lots of restaurants close by, including a chinese restaurant that is highly recommended if you are tired of Italian food (why, but okay). The hotel provides a good breakfast, but the room is small and can get crowded.

Booked this thinking it was hotel but only had a few floors in building. First room given not acceptable but moved to better room. Hotel DiEste next door same owner and much nicer hotel. We knew are from before but would not visit area again due to persistent beggars following us and did not feel safe at night. Breakfast was good and could not fault room or cleanliness. The garden area though was really awful dirty old tables and junk all around. Price expensive for what you get.

Hotel Montreal
I compared Hotel Montreal to the other hotel I stayed at in Rome. The other hotel in Rome was next to the Palatino and cost less per night than Hotel Montreal. The other hotel had a beautiful court yard and was like a museum; decorated with art work and marble statues. Hotel Montreal had none of these features. The description of Hotel Montreal said there was a roof top terrace, but there was none. Hotel Montreal is worn out and not worth the cost, especially compared to other hotels in Rome that cost less and are beautiful. The bed was not comfy, it was hard. I needed a hotel near the train station because I had an early flight and Hotel Montreal is a 5 minute walk to the train station.

The worst ever
I have booked one night at this hotel and Iinformed them several times by phone and also email that I will be having a very late check in due to very late arrival of my flight. The room charge have been paid already and they assured me there will be no problem.Surprisingly upon my arrival I was declined to give any romm because there was no room available.First of all they denied my booking but when I insisted they have transported me to another hotel which was far worse than what I have paid for.But I had to accept it just to spend the night, I mean what can you do at 3 oclock in the mornng after a flight and a busy day? To put it in nutshell this was my worst booking ever.

Stay if you don't have any other option
Read until the end: This hotel should be in the Termini area and not in the neighbourhood as it is described. Well the hotel was hard to find at night because all the signs are turned off. The reception is 24 hours but I found it close. I rang the bell and someone from the hotel next door showed up. He seemed nice at first. The room was old but ok, the walls were stained from usage nothing that bother me but would not be a place my mother would like to stay. The internet was sluggish but usable when nobody was using. The bed seemed cleaned and the bathroom aswell. I was staying for five days. Breakfast was acceptable for the price, they had a nice expresso machine but they asked no one if someone wanted coffee from it. Days went by, the bed linen was never changed. The internet stoped working several times, last two days I had no internet. I had a cousin meeting me at the hotel he was scared away in the most rude and unpleasant way possible with the justification that I could not have someone coming to my room because I rented a room for one person ( it was 4 in the afternoon). Sums up: Old hotel; Rude Staff; Bad english; Toilets cleaned; Very bad internet; Clean rooms, don't forget to ask them to change the bed linen if you stay longer; Ok breakfast;

This hotel is in a very good location, a couple blocks from Termini station and a block from Hop on, hop off buses. There are also lots of restaurant in the area. The hotel is a bit dated but this is Rome after all! Our room was quiet and the breakfast was very good, particularly the coffee. The staff at the reception was very helpful and friendly. It was a good stay.

First room offered was very poor
When we arrived we were offered a very poor room and had to stay in that one for the first night, as the hotel was fully booked, or so we were told. Our second night was in a much better room. Breakfast was really good and served for a long period. Hotel was close to the sites and metro station. Taxi organised by the hotel was expensive, so book your own.

Clean hotel and good value for money
This is a small but functional hotel near Termini station and only a 10-min walk to the Colosseum and Forum. The room was cosy with a good-sized and very comfortable double bed and good bedding. It had a reasonable shower area which was rectangular and larger than the small square ones you find in some basic hotels. There was lots of hot water and a powerful spray (which was very welcome after a hard day's walking around the sites). The room was cleaned every day and had a small fridge but no kettle or tea / coffee making facilities. Breakfast was available but we did not take it, preferring to get something later in town. The staff were helpful but their English was limited (worth bearing in mind if you have a complicated request). As a budget hotel in a good location for sightseeing, it served us well and had everything we needed at a reasonable price.

Hotel was good - would benefit from tea/coffee facilities in room! Excellent location with good access to main train/bus terminals and many local eateries - people very friendly and mostly just as happy to converse in English as Italian. Hotel conciege very knowlegeabe regarding locality and most helpful!

Simple breakfast of croissants and EXCELLENT cappuccino Very nice/professional staff. Room very basic but clean and comfortable. 24 hour reception w/double security access to rooms. Cottini, just a block away is a great place for a buffet lunch. We shared a big plate of fish and vegetables for 6eu !! But don't go there for cappuccino and dessert.... that was a 16eu mistake :(

Okay hotel. Good breakfast, tiny room.
Ok for price, I guess. Can't expect much for 90 bucks in Rome apparently. The hotel and the room was tiny. Tiny steps leading to tiny lobby next to tiny (2 person max) elevator. Room was very antiquated in decor and cramped. But it was okay. I moved to the place immediately next door after the first night for $30 more. Just a larger and more clean and modern looking room.

Great value convenient to Termini
Hotel Montreal is a relatively inexpensive, 3 star hotel close to Termini. The hotel is located 4 blocks from the station on a quieter side street. Our room was closer to the street. The room windows had been recently upgraded to help deaden the street sound. The room had a quiet and effective air conditioning. Staff was friendly and available to assist. Breakfast was pretty Spartan. Could have done with a wider selection of offerings. No meat. Just apples were available as the fruit (better than nothing). Overall we felt that the Hotel Montreal was a great value. We enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to stay there again.

Not recommended but will do in a pinch
Be warned that they will want $8 euro in cash upon check out. We had spent our cash and had to go to the bank next door to get euros. You have to ask for the air conditioning remote at the front desk. It is difficult to sleep with the windows open because of the noise of the busy street. Wifi is not strong enough in the room for a stable connection. The staff we encountered were not pleasant and seemed to be on a power trip. It was clean and it was close to the train station.
