"Confession: When I first arrived, I briefly wished I’d sprung for one of the expensive bougie chain hotels in San Juan. But after a good night’s sleep, I woke up in love with this place. Ocean to one side, forest and coquis on the other, and you feel like you’re just staying over with generous friends in their guest room. I’m not sure why Orbitz says there’s a spa on this property; there isn’t. But Chi Spa above the Lujillo bakery is a short walk away, and Jasmin (Mina) and her team offer excellent service. The property itself is quiet (except for some drunk idiots one night that management dealt with, and occasional noise from the neighboring property, which happens everywhere). Staff are super friendly and helpful. Bathroom could have used a touch of paint and better lighting, but the room was a comfortable retreat thanks to the wall A/C unit, soft bed, and blackout curtains. The rocky oceanfront is not a swimming beach, but the deck is a great spot to sip coffee in the morning and watch ocean wildlife doing its thing undisturbed. Swimmable beach is available five minutes’ walk to the east, and a little beyond that is the Lujillo kiosks with great food at all price points. If you have a car, it’s easy to get to any of the bigger tourist destinations and activities. If you want to stay close to home, the neighborhood has several good eateries facing Rt 3. Don’t sleep on the little outdoor grill place with its garlic-butter chicken pinchos!"

"The view is astounding, the resort is beautiful and very well maintained. The staff was welcoming and helpful. The room was gorgeous with great amenities like a mini fridge, quality hair dryer and a tub! We enjoyed the room service. Most of the food was excellent. The cocktails and beer prices are a little steep. Loved the pools and the beach! Overall, a great stay."

"Otium was very responsive. The three bedrooms and full/queen sized beds were clean and comfortable. There were a few issues with the water pressure but I’ve come to expect that throughout the Caribbean. When needed, Walmart was about 15 mins away and the ferry was a short drive as well. My only real complaint were the barking dogs nearby. The smaller yappy dog barking at 2am really killed the relaxing sounds of the rainforest and woke me up repeatedly. If it weren’t for the dogs, this would be an ideal stay for the east side of the island."

"The room had far too much light, both from natural sunlight and from an exterior light that stayed on throughout the night, making it difficult to get a good night’s sleep. Additionally, the shower had been leaking since we arrived, and the bathroom mat did not appear to be clean. There was also an issue with the late check-out fee. The information provided in the room clearly states that the charge is $25. I informed the staff early in the day that I would return between 2:00 and 3:00 PM. However, when I arrived, our belongings had already been removed, and I was charged $50 instead of the advertised $25. Overall, this was a disappointing experience due to the poor room conditions and the inconsistency in the charges. Unfortunately, I would not recommend staying here."
