“Would like to go back sometime”

Hotel grounds are beautiful and situated on a hill it got a much needed breeze in throughout the whole day. Restaurant menu was simple and food seasonal, delicious and reasonably priced. Would like to go back when I have more time.

“The hotel”

The staff were helpful, cheerful and highly competent. The buffet breakfast had everything we wanted. The choice of dishes in the evening was limited but quite suficient. They were well prepared and well presented. It was autumn and siting in the garden in the evening was a joy.

“A hidden gem”

This hotel is great although a little challenging to find if not approached from Marseille. The fact there was a pool, shade and well kept rooms made this the perfect relaxing end to our holiday.

“A very pleasant hotel outside the centre of Marseilles”

The location of the hotel is peaceful and grounds and pool well maintained and pleasant. The only problem is the distance from the centre but here is a bus into Marseilles with the last one back at 8.30 pm. Reception staff and manager were particularly helpful. Restaurant food quite good but not a lot of choice

“Nice Marseille suburban hotel”

This hotel has a peaceful feel to it, as expected from a hotel some distance from the hustle and bustle of Marseille. It is possible to walk into town in around 40 minutes. Bus 61 stops really close to the hotel but although starts early in the morning (5.30 or so) the last bus is also early, at around 9pm. Drinks are quite expensive but the hotel is very good value compared to others in Marseille.

“Excellent hotel”

This hotel was exceptional and our room was lovely. The dinner in the hotel is definately worth having so you don't have to go into Marseille. The hotel really is on top of the hill and the access is difficult if you have a large car as they are only a car wide at best. Once your there though it's well worth it. Internet is not existent in this hotel.

“nice hotel , probably best for couples”

the Bompard is a very nice hotel with polite & friendy staff the food was very good for lunch & dinner; a little expensive but worth it breakfast is ok; continental with maybe some scrambled eggs if your early enough but not worth 12 euros The pool area is good with plenty of sunbeds and tables & chairs, very sunny till late with a bar & waiter service through the day our rooms were clean with comfy beds & robes , slippers, toiletries etc. but coffee making is 2 euros per cup! the hotel is pretty good overall but maybe a little far out from the main port area, which is where most of the restaurants & bars are situated. taxi was 8-15 euros each way depending on which route they fancy generally more going to town, as they seem to arrive at the hotel with 5 or 6 euros on the meter already??

“A curate's egg : good in parts.”

Hotel itself was quite good. Main complaint was with the restaurant service. Menu was very limited : choice of 3 things which were the same each night : fish, steak or salad. The head waiter was not very affable : he treated us with distain and could barely contain his distaste for foreigners who could not speak fluent French. Although my wife made a very good effort to converse with her A-level French, this seemed only to exacerbate his contemptiousness. The rest of the staff though were lovely. There are no realistic local eating alternatives unless you have a car.
