"Awesome resort at a beautiful location"
We spent 4 nights at an Ocean Breeze room. We were upgraded to this room from our original booking of an Island Breeze room. Overall, the experience was simply fantastic! Good: Excellent location especially the beach. Very friendly staff. Loved the welcome and send off performances from the staff. Excellent facilities. The layout of the resort is done very well - especially the main areas. Breakfast is very good and filling. Plenty of ways to sit back and relax on the beach or the resort area. Not so good: These are small issues that didn't change our attitude towards returning here. Room service can be more consistent - had to ask for the daily complementary water bottles one of the days. Sometimes we could hear footsteps of people walking in other rooms because the floor is wooden. Meals at the only restaurant are a bit too expensive. However, there is a small pantry open till late with options such as sandwiches, savories, sweets, etc. Helpful hints: You can see a good diversity of fish near the reef during snorkeling but have to swim a bit to get to the reef. Cost of hiring snorkeling gear is reasonable but recommend taking your own. You can ask for life jackets free of charge if you want one. The cost of non-motorized sports are reasonable. You can explore and dine at the resort adjacent to this one if you like (dining prices are similar). However, it seems like it is kept as a little secret as the walk between the two resorts is not kept very well :)

"Great for couples and families"
This was one of our favourite holidays! Having been to Rarotonga a couple of times I knew what to expect island wise. But this blew our minds! The staff are so friendly, most of the guest are too - a very sociable place! The food was a bit overpriced but apart from that there's no complaints. We got around the food by going to the backpackers next door which does great meals. There were a few families there, but as a couple with no kids we didn't mind it at all. Most of the parents take full advantage of the 5 hours worth of free day care. If you're going to this island we really recommend going to Cloud 9 which is a floating bar on the water. It's a 30 minutes boat ride away but you'll never forget it. Shop around for the best price - we paid $50 each to get there (group of 6 - we did it through the backpackers) where a couple paid $400 from the resort.

"Great location. lovely people. beware hidden costs"
All in all a fantastic holiday, great location, no screaming kids, perfect for couples of all ages. The hotel is small, 60 guests max and the staff are very attentive and friendly. There's not much else to do except sunbathe, drink and eat. If that suits you, this is the perfect escape. Trips to neighbouring islands and sights are arranged at additional cost, Mondriki Island, Cloud 9, Honeymoon Island all very special but also expensive, as are drinks and meals. The resort doesn't like you taking the free canoes or Hobie Cat to visit the closest resort on Malolo Island and spending your money there. It is selfish, the canoes and cat are shared between guests, but it adds a bit of a "Hotel California" feel and the staff notice you taking your money elsewhere. The resort itself is a bit unfinished, there is some landscaping still to do. There are not enough sunbeds around the pool so these get claimed early, some guests are left nowhere to lie. The beach is tiny and not really sandy so a seat is needed, but these are minor gripes. Beware the transfer costs if not included in your package and check ferry times. The last one leaves Port Denarau at 3pm and if your flight arrives after that you either need to stay the night and catch the ferry the next day or charter a speedboat for FJ650 or a sea plane for about the same. Expensive if you've not planned for this but a great way to arrive none the less and the Bula welcome from the staff makes you feel very special.

we had the perfect 5 day stay at Matamanoa Island. They welcomed our arrival with their local song and guitar playing and smoothies waiting. Our bure was overlooking the ocean and it was even more perfect then we expected! Snorkeling, tennis playing, boat trips, food, drinks --- everything was ideal!

"Excellent place to stay!"
We chose this hotel because it was close to a surf spot I wanted to hit, and it was not as expensive as those "surfing resorts" near by the surf spot. This location was a little further but close enough - 20min boat ride got us to the famous Cloud Break. We loved the setting of this hotel - very quiet and serene. Not many families and kids. The food and drinks were great too.

"Fiji at it's best!"
Great little resort, perfect for families with small kids. The staff were just incredible, especially with the little ones. We stayed in the oceanview bure, with 2 kids and it was absolutely comfortable. The food and choice of restaurants were great and Treetops is a must. I think meal plan is much better option and is truly a great value for the choice offered. We loved the relaxed feel of the beach bar and breakfast buffet at the Terrace restaurant was amazing. The spa is also a must, Eta is simply brilliant. There are quite a few free water activities available and equipment is quite well kept. Mili and the staff at the kids club were out of this world. No matter what age, all the kids will be well taken care of and not bored for a split second. There are so many activities available that we had trouble keeping them next to us. The beach is great, which is one of the reasons we wanted to go somewhere off the main island and water so clean, perfect for snorkeling. Sunsets are just amazing at the beach. Pools are also great, sunny in the morning. Kids pool is just perfect and we love the fact that the adult only pool was separated, yet so close. This resort has truly thought of every little detail. I would highly recommend this resort and hope to be back there very soon.

"Exceeded Expectations"
Fabulous, catered for our every need. Beautiful location. The rooms are beautiful. You will not be disapointed. We stayed in a deluxe room with a plunge pool, we would definately go for the overwater bure next time. We found the plunge pool wasn't optimized as the ocean is right there - and was warmer! There is also a beautiful pool area for pool swimming.

"Absolute luxury, beachfront bungalow"
This resort is for a peaceful holiday with total relaxation. We used their complimentary kayaks, canoes, paddle boards and bikes as well as able to go snorkelling on the many day trips that were part of the daily activities. But if you did not wish to do anything, you could lie on the day beds around the pool or just sit on your deck overlooking the beach. Meals were either on the open deck of the restaurant or you could book a romantic table for two on the beach or have your meal delivered to your bungalow.

Pocket Guide: Fiji Mamanuca Islands Hotels

A group of small islands offshore from Nadi, the Mamanucas are ringed by sandy beaches, turquoise to pastel green waters, and coral reefs. Access is a quick hop from Nadi via boat or plane transfer, and accommodation options range from budget to luxury, and bures (traditional thatch-roof huts) through to exclusive beachfront villas. Scuba diving and snorkelling in this region comes highly recommended.
