Best hotel ever. Can't beat the amazing staff they are so accommodating. The rooms are top notch 10/10. It feels more like a luxury apartment than a hotel and it's unbeatable for the price. If you're in Long Beach you don't want to stay anywhere but the Hotel Royal. I cannot say enough good things about this place LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT! 👍🛎️🛏️❤️⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The hotel was clean and mostly quiet and peaceful. We had a deluxe queen room and faced the street. There were nice smelling magnolia trees right out the window. Von's grocery store was just down the street and was convenient for buying food for the room. The staff was very friendly and check in and check out was a breeze. They were very quick to respond and great with communication. The area is very walkable and i give the property and staff 5 stars. The negatives about my stay had nothing to do with the property but there were homeless people all over the town some sleeping on the sidewalk right out front. Even witnessed a guy breaking car windows with a hammer right outside the window. The property is locked and safe. We were never bothered in our room and the bed and pillows were so comfortable that we slept 14 hours when we arrived. Also our room was ready when we arrived and they allowed us to check in early for free and we were about 5 hours early. I dont plan to return to Long Beach but if i ever find myself there again i would definitely stay at the Royal Hotel again.

Didn’t like anything. Smelt like 3 febreeze cans were sprayed in the room. Shower wasn’t sealed. Sink was in the opposite side of the room in the bedroom and we had less than a foot to walk around the entire bed on each side.

great value, comfy bed, artsy space, friendly staff, able to walk to water and run along the beach! drawbacks: (small) dishes etc in room were not clean, and (BIG) the management is not eco-friendly. they have large pumps for personal care products- YAY- but do not fill them and instead offer single-use plastics. also, NO RECYCLING on site?! this is CA- i expect better care of our planet, so come on!

This was a great experience. Comfortable bed, quiet, staff were friendly and helpful, parking is available. Clean room with all the amenities. I also borrowed a bike and toured around. There were restaurant options close by. Highly recommend!

It was quaint and boutique for sure. The staff was very kind and responsive. I love the amenities they offer of bikes, umbrellas, water, and coffee. The rooms are small and nicely designed. The kitchenette is helpful for people that want to cook while traveling. There was some dirt spots that I didn’t look at for long for my own sanity. The bedding had some dirt stains, the floor still had debris as if unswept, the towels had stains, and the shower wall had starting evidence of what I hope is dirt stains. From what I can tell, not accessible for those that can’t make it up stairs. I felt safe with their door always locked and it was walkable to all the places I needed to go and for food.

Be very careful. Based on prices and options I knew this would be basic accommodations - but the room was makeshift and very small. Not even enough room to store a small suitcase. There was no closet and the bathroom was so small the sink was in the bedroom. Basically a simple hostel.

We found this to be a perfect short stop over before we headed off for a cruise. The staff very most helpful. There is a kitchen facility, we did not make use of this but that was down to us as we ate out, but all you would need was supplied. We had pre booked a taxi ourselves for our pick up to go to the port, it never showed, but the receptionist on the morning straight away booked us a taxi for us which arrived very promptly. We would recommend this hotel, and we would for sure stay there again ourselves.

Very quaint old hotel. Only here for one night and it was perfect. Lots of eateries in area. Hotel supplies offers free coffee, tea and water. Our room had a microwave & small fridge. Staff was terrific. Very accommodating.

Very nice boutique hotel. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Community kitchen on ground floor. Surprisingly good coffee in the morning. Free bikes until 7pm.

A great experience
I found the hotel to be very clean with wonderful customer service. Parking was pretty easy it’s best to call ahead and ask for them to leave a parking pass for you ahead of time to be sure you have adequate parking. The room was small with the bed taking up a lot of the room however this is a historic older hotel so that is to be expected. There is no elevator just stairs so just be prepared for that. It’s very walkable and in a safe neighborhood with plenty of food and bar options around the area. Definitely would recommend this hotel to someone looking to stay in the area I also think this hotel is more for the younger crowd I don’t think someone that is a bit older would enjoy it as much because of the smaller rooms, stairs, and busy nightlife.

Hello,I am very surprised and disappointed that a guest would say something like this, which is completely untrue. I went and inspected the room prior to your arrival and nothing in the room smelled of "feces" as you described and the sheets were brand new. We take great pride in our cleanliness and have never had someone describe our rooms this way. I cannot even fathom what you mean by "spray with feces" I would recommend many other hotels aside from ours that you can take advantage of if you are ever in Long Beach.

Needs some love, don't over pay
We booked this on short notice when other hotels were full to go to the nearby Long Beach Convention Center and paid a premium. Not a great experience but it worked. Don't overpay for this hotel. Things you should know: • Cleanliness was not great. The room's floor did not feel great and there was some visible mess. Bed was okay. Bathroom needed some love (exposed wood that just stains by the mirror). Hairdryer exhaust was covered in lint. AC unit had the "clean filter" light on when we arrived. • No elevator here. Rooms are up 1 or 2 flights of stairs. They're wide enough that it's not that hard to get suitcases up if you're able. We weren't offered a porter at the check-in desk. • $100 deposit is taken at check-in. • Access is with physical keys with door handle locks. Didn't feel as safe as the heavy locks on modern hotels but it was probably fine. Since you could hear through it easily, it felt a little off. • Walls are very thin, I could hear next door's TV. • Rooms are not made up/trash removed each day. You get your room and you're on your own. • Bed is a little small compared to what hotels are offering these days. • We went in the winter but there is an AC unit in the window. The downside is that it lets through outside noise quite easily. • Shower sucked. The head had a few equally awful settings and the shower curtain would either cling to you or let the water out into the bathroom.
