The Adelphi is an historic hotel, once very grand, now somewhat faded. Rooms on the upper floors (we were on the 4th) are lightly modernised (some original fittings from 1914; no aircon) and rooms lower down are said to be more modern. The public areas, particularly the main lounge, are very pretty, with original Art-Deco themes. The rooms are quiet if the windows overlook the central well of the hotel, possibly noisy if they overlook the street (open windows needed for ventilation). The location in the city centre, about 250m from Lime Street station, is very useful.
It's clean enough and comfortable enough, but vastly overpriced for what you get, considering that breakfast and WIFI in the room are additional to the base price. It's a 3-star hotel at best asking 4-star prices.
