This hotel has amazing views and safe location. The breakfast was very fresh and the presentation of food was top notch. The cleanliness of our room..well let’s just say it was immaculate!

The staff were wonderful. Extremely helpful. The breakfast is included and amazing. Lots to choose from and a coffee machine with lots of options. They even offer champagne at breakfast for no additional charge! The room is small and the shower is tiny. This is normal in most of the European rooms we have stayed but worth noting in case you bring more than one large suitcase. Overall we enjoyed our stay and the location on the river.

The room was very basic-nothing fancy. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We needed an adapter and they had one to loan. Breakfast was awesome! Even had free prosecco for mimosas. Bread was fresh and selections were varied.

The room was spacious and the beds very comfortable. Location is perfectly walkable with lovely river proximity, yet not amidst the crowd. Excellent restaurant very close by. Breakfast a bit underwhelming. WiFi weak.

Nice hotel with a good location - just 10 mins walk to town and also at the start of the castle wall tourist spot. reception lady was very very helpful and very nice. made our stay so much more pleasant. breakfast was good. bed was a little too soft for my liking though.

Very pleasant hotel in a great location - quiet and felt outside of tourist madness, yet really just steps away from the restaurants, shops and lovely streets of old Lucerne. Great breakfasts. Very nice staff. The balcony and river view were great assets, especially as we arrived during a heat wave. I'm docking a star in the rating due to the lack of A/C, though that's not entirely fair since normally this wouldn't be a concern here. Being able to open the large balcony door and windows (along with the fan) is what saved us at night. Other than the unusual heat, we loved our stay in Lucerne and would happily stay here again.

Cool place, but Warm Rooms
Great location, nice service, very clean hotel. One can tell it was recently refreshed - but when trying to make it a modern hotel, why did they not add Air Conditioning? Due to the street noise, and over-lit parking garage across the river, keeping one's windows open is a challenge as well. We did have a fan, but not sure if it helped much. Needless to say, we did not get any sleep while staying here. Would I stay here again - yes, but not in the summer.

Lovely hotel in excellent location
Very good hotel in excelling location, minutes from old town and 10 mins walk from train station. Bus stop to Kriens (for Mount Pilatus trip) was just across the other side of the river, 5 mins walk from hotel. Family room was a good size with plenty of room for a family of 4 to spread out. Good breakfast included and helpful staff made it a very enjoyable stay. Only negative was that it was very hot on the top floor. Fans were provided to help keep cool but still very hot when trying to sleep at night in August. Despite that I would still recommend this hotel (even in summer months) as positives more than outweigh that one negative.

Excellent choice
Location was very walkable to sites of the old town, right on the river. Breakfast was excellent. Old-fashioned service to room, fresh towels, made bed, etc was a surprise! Coffee & tea in the room was good quality. Reception was friendly, helped us with parking and provided good knowledge of local sights to see and restaurant choices. Stayed here three nights in August.

Great Stay

We Absolutely Loved Our Stay Highly Recommended
We absolutely loved our stay at the KARL! Our room was beautiful with large windows including a sliding glass door that led to a balcony overlooking the river, old town and astonishing mountain range in the background. I can’t describe how much we enjoyed this view, spending time on the balcony sharing a bit of wine and listening to the river at night. The hotel location is perfect. An easy 10 minute walk to the train station, no problem even with luggage and the short walk into the old town along the river is beautiful. Breakfast was really good and the breakfast staff wonderful. Lastly, I can’t say enough about the front desk staff who really went our of their way to make us feel at home. Helping us with restaurant reservations, suggestions and kindly answering our many questions. We are so glad that we stayed here, it was a wonderful experience!

Great location, ok property. The folks at the front desk were kind and helpful. Fantastic location. The rooms were barebones and small but clean. No AC so the rooms were quite warm. The windows could open but there were no screens so you had to choose between cool air and bugs.

In Switzerland they aren't as the hot days are outnumbered.Here it is more important to have a good heating system for the long cool season. Global warming means that we do have more hot days than we had years ago, but do to environmental reasons, it is not allowed to install high energy consuming appliances in older buildings.Best regards

Great location, but shares the building with student flats and offices, more like student digs, stupidly deep bath so awkward to get into shower. Ants in the room. Had to park in multi-storey.

Thank you for your feedback. We deplore that there were ants in the room in the morning, and apology again for the circumstances. The parking situation is difficult in every city centre, because the government strives to make them as traffic-free as possible. This is for safety reasons for tourists, but of course also for environmental reasons.

Thank you for your stay and feedback!In Switzerland we are not used to have AC, as we do not have many hot days. It is important to have a good heating system, as the cooler days are in the vast majority. During the warm season every room is equipped with a fan.

We loved the balcony on the river with a small screen door. A little noisy with wet pavement and sirens on Saturday night. We just put in earplugs and it was fine with the door open.

Excellent place and room Very good staff however strange operating hours. 8am to 8pm odd. Since most people checkout before 8am to catch plane or early train for example. Also was very difficult to get a taxi at 6:30 am. Luckily after 6 different cells to taxi companies we got one. Thanks to the receptionist lady. Very good hotel.

This hotel is very nice, located right off the river in Lucerne, in turnoff town, very close to the city wall and watch towers. About 15 mins walk from the train station and ferry terminal, there is a bus 9 that stops closeby. The rooms are very clean and our family room of 4 has three beds located in sort of three different rooms. Breakfast was included and nice. Staff are friendly and happy to explain directions etc. Highly recommended.

This property is the best value in Luzern! A great place with an amazing view, clean rooms and breakfast included for a great price. The room was clean, sleek and spacious with a great view of the river from our balcony. The bedding was very comfortable and the shower was hot with great water pressure. The staff was amazingly friendly and the room included a continental breakfast each morning. The hotel is walking distance to everything and located on the river side of the town, which we find more scenic and quaint than the lakeside. Being a smaller boutique hotel, it was more peaceful than the larger hotels with no noise from other guests. There was no AC but we had a great breeze at night from the river so our room stayed at a comfortable temperature. Overall, it was a great stay and we would highly recommend.

I liked this place. It is in a great location on the riverfront a few moments from the Chapel Bridge. Plenty of bars, restaurants and shops nearby, easy to walk to everything. Our room was modest in size but had a very spacious bathroom. We used the self service laundry facilities for 10 CHF ,very useful. The breakfast was good, plenty of choice, lovely fresh fruit. And finally a thumbs up to the receptionists who were both very friendly and helpful.

Walking distance to the city center and since I booked a room with balcony overlooking the Reuss River, it is nice to sit there and people watch. Just hot though since no AC but a fan was provided. Small TV with no english channels, no coffee/tea pot and no fridge in the room. The breakfast is a/ok and curve parking is only 15 CHF per day.

The hotel was well priced. The staff was wonderful and very helpful in giving us sightseeing ideas. The breakfast was excellent! We would definitely stay here again. The only suggestion would be to have a screen on at least 1 window. We were very pleased.
