The hotel and staff were great. The decor is very dated and in desperate need of a refresh. That being said, housekeeping does a great job keeping the hotel spotless and the breakfast buffet is top notch - one of the best I have ever seen. The staff who maintain it are to be commended and the chefs who cook for it are fantastic. Do NOT expect an America breakfast of pancakes, waffles and cereal. You'll get beautifully cooked eggs, a lovely assortment of local meats and cheeses, breads, fruirs and vegetables plus a lot more.
Outside, the neighborhood is a business district bordering on a residential neighborhood.
We did see an active police presence during our stay and they were getting ready for the MWC which made things a bit hectic for all.
Outside, the sewer smell was a bit unpleasant, and the hotel is to be congratulated for combatting it so successfully.
Access to the subway and local restaurants was excellent.
We would definitely stay here again. Job well done by Hotel Porta Fira!!
