Location is great nice walk in to Keswick about 20 mins. Food and drink very nice and a good price. Staff all friendly and helpful. Hotel needs some renovation work but for a couple of nights it's a lovely place to stay.

The garden around the hotel is in a beautiful position on the lake but is overgrown and unkempt. The hotel could do activities from the lake side ie canoeing and lake tours

Located on edge of lake - lovely.
Excellent location just on the edge of the lake. Lovely 5-10 min walk through the hotel grounds to the lake - excellent for our dog. Hotel is fine, but tired in places but clean and staff very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was buffet self serve and good. Didn’t eat in restaurant on evening as bus tour group turned up and staff said it would be at least 90min wait.

hidden gem in the Lakes
This is a great place to stay at the top of the Lake District, and the village is much quieter than Keswick. The gentleman at the front desk (from Gower in Wales) was so friendly and helpful and made our stay a pleasure. Wonderful breakfast. Beautiful grounds.

Hotel is in a lovely location, breakfast was great, room was ok clean however the communal areas specifically the stairs really needed a hoover and a deep clean. They were caked in mud and dry grass which looked like it had been there for a long time. Really let this place down.

Hands down one of the worst places I have ever stayed. Dirty, dated and not fit fit human habitual residence. My room was like an oven and I was subjected to an infestation of midges. All over the bed, the walls and my dog! The bathroom curtain was mouldy and the stairs looked like they hadn’t been hoovered in months. I was provided with another room after complaining. However, and upon checkout, the receptionist really wasn’t that bothered and played the midge infestation down. Will never stay here again.

Could be so much nicer.
The hotel looked like it hadn’t been cleaned for months. Hallway carpets were disgusting and a rogue fruit pastille was noticed on the stairs for the 3 days we stayed. The room was dated at best with the bed not being cleaned behind for months and neither was the shelving. Cob webs were indeed found in the bathroom window which helped with the midgy swarm we got when we left the window open as it was over hot. On the plus side the breakfast is great and the grounds are so peaceful and tranquil.

Firstly love the fact it's dog friendly, secondly the location is great. It's clean and comfortable and I am a regular here now because of all this.

Hotel location is lovely near the lake and staff were very nice. Hotels pretty run down and not very clean, we stayed 2 nights and didn’t get clean bedding or towels. Didn’t really bother us but could have been better. It was cheap though so can’t complain. Didn’t try the food but great restaurants in Keswick only 20 min walk or £6 taxi

This place is for the dogs. Everything smells like dog including pillows. Very overpriced. If you have a dog and nothing is available maybe? Otherwise its a hard pass for us.

Area & grounds stunning, staff great but pictures of rooms on web site are nothing like what you get. The rooms are shabby, unwelcoming, & there was constant drip from bathroom, a massive stain on carpet where the radiator leaked? & a Creaky uneven floor. They are expensive at £155 for a 1 night stay considering no breakfast included. In desperate need of some TLC.

Buyer beware.
The Derwentwater Hotel has seen better days. The staff were helpful but too few. The beds were absolutely awful so we left a day earlier.

It was easy to get to. It is an older building but the rooms are nice and clean. The restaurant/bar are conveniently located on property. The trail to the lake is nice.

Absolutely fantastic location and very dog friendly The down side was the condition of the bathrooms and carpets, so old, all doors chipped and looked awful. The landing carpets had holes everywhere. Just needs tidying up

Our room was spacious and clean with a lovely lake view. Hotel was walkable to Keswick along a country path. The receptionist was excellent and gave us advice on where to eat and drink in Keswick.
