"Unwelcoming, unfriendly, and unhappy"
In short: Don't stay here. The staff was rude, the place was out of the way, and it was just not worth the money.
Even upon arrival I knew something was off. The check-in process was a dreary experience, feeling more like an interrogation than a welcome. After the grueling process of filling out "the big book" of where we came from, and heading to next (an Indian standard procedure made worse by rude staff), we were taken to our room, and "offered" water, beer, etc by a very pushy staff member. I gave some money to cover the water, and a tip, and at breakfast the next day (gross, btw) presented with the bill for the water. He'd kept the money as a tip. My protests were met with convenient lack of understanding, despite everything else being understood.
For the rest of the stay the same guy kept asking us if we wanted anything, which could have been seen as being helpful, but felt more like he was just after the tips.
Lastly, we were called at 7 in the morning, being told to come downstairs, that breakfast was ready. I'm sure the language barrier makes it seem pushy, but being told to get breakfast, rather than being offered ticked us off.
Basically, even by Indian standards, this place is just kinda crappy. On our trip we stayed at 7 hotels in India, and this was by far the worst. In writing everything sounds really petty, but to experience it was miserable.
