We stayed over following a wedding in Basingstoke. The Hotel was cheaper than a Travel lodge and certainly better than the aforementioned. Breakfast was plentiful and the staff were excellent, polite and helpful. Would definitely recommend and use again. Thank you for a great stay.

Beautiful hotel located amongst even more beautiful grounds. However, for a 4 star hotel it had some short comings. Our room was located in the annex stables & although our room was well decorated with a lovely view there were a few issues. The phone in our room did not work which was particularly inconvenient, especially as the annex rooms are not in the main house and a few minutes walk to the main reception, this could become a real problem in an emergency as the cell phone reception is very weak & made it hard for us to enjoy amenities such as room service. Additionally, the chrome cast, although it is advertised on the tv, does not work in the annex rooms as the connection is bad. If you’re a light sleeper the annex rooms are not for you as you can hear everything from the neighbouring rooms and surroundings. The staff however, on the whole are welcoming and friendly and helped rectify a mishap with the breakfast. I would probably stay here again but would opt for a room in the main house instead.

Beautiful hotel, great service, perfect for a special occasion. Everything was excellent apart from the room being absolutely roasting. We turned the radiator off but the pipes remained boiling hot.

The service was poor at times, with staff ignoring you and leaving you waiting. Although I booked a room with a King Size bed, it only had a double bed and the hotel insisted I pay for the King Size Room even thoughb there was no King Size Bed! A room dinner with wine and a drink will set you back £400 a night. 5 star prices with 2 star bookings and customer service.

We would go back
After changing our room to the main house our sray got better . Nice olddie worldie house . Food was nice but not enought at dinner and expensive . Breakdast was great but ruined experience by grumpy staff . Reception and most of staff very nice and helpful. We wokld go back. .

Absolutely stunning property with picturesque views of the stately grounds. The hotel itself is a very beautiful manor house with well appointed rooms which are spacious and well presented. Staff were helpful and service was excellent

Highly recommend
Lovely hotel, stayed twice now, once in the main house and once in the stables. Grounds and house are beautiful. We've used it to visit London as it's only about 45 minutes from Richmond station. Would definitely stay again but some better pillows and perhaps an extra blanket would be appreciated.

We only stayed one night but had a huge family room in the stables which was comfortable and quiet. The grounds, room and hotel were beautiful and well maintained. I would like to stay for longer next time. The Christmas decorations were lovely!

Disappointed due loads of flies in bathroom
The hotel is gorgeous but disappointing stay in room 205 due loads of big flies in the bathroom. Reported to reception but still more flies. Reported it via the contact us on website but no response. Whilst I understand it’s an old building there was clearly a problem and it spoilt our stay

Beautiful accommodation and surroundings. The short break was let down by poor service. We had a dog with us and knew we would have to eat in the bar. Although this was fine for dinner. Breakfast was another story. We were left in the bar on both mornings with no table set. We had to find our own cutlery and chase for coffee. A minor issue - but with two hungry children and a dog waiting to settle - it was a level of stress that could have easily been avoided. Particularly on the second day.

Great hotel, stupidly expensive bar p
Gorgeous hotel, very cold though and expensive at £6.50 a pint and £11 a vodka and orange juice. Heating had gone down in the stables (family rooms) so we managed to get a portable heater. Room was quite small and window looked out to a wall so not the best. Lots of staff around who are exceptionally well mannered and trained. Very good there. Breakfast was absolutely amazing.
