Very pleased with my stay

Posted 10-Sep-2014
Terrific staff, great location for my needs. Rooms are small by American standards, but work just fine. To my personal taste, the bed was too firm. I understand this is also typical in Asia. Terrific rate for my stay. Overall very pleased.

Pleasant Hotel with friendly staff

Posted 07-Sep-2014
Pros: The friendly staff
We had a pleasant stay at this hotel. Staff was always around to assist us. They are pleasant and always with a smile. However, hotel is not close to MTR. You can walk from MTR to hotel, though. Or the easiest way is to get a cab from the MTR on Hong Kong side.

Beautiful Hotel away from the crowded areas

Posted 05-Sep-2014
Pros: Beautiful hotel room. The staff were very helpful with advice on what to see and how to get places. The shuttle was awesome and 4 elevators so no wait
Location: I liked the location and proximity to local restaurants, shops and bars. There is a park across the street with amazing views of Kowloon.
Firstly, the staff were absolutely amazing. Very friendly and extremely helpful. If you are looking for a hotel that is right in the center of a very crowded touristy area of Hong Kong then this is not that hotel. It's located a close walk to the nice relaxing Kennedy Town but it is also within a 10-15min walk to the Sheung Wan MTR station. In between the hotel and that MTR station are a lot of local restaurants, bars and shops. It's a local part of Hong Kong so you really get to see the real Hong Kong away from the tourist areas. They have shuttles that will take you to the Hong Kong MTR Station which is great for then getting to the airport. My room was beautiful and spacious with an amazing view of Victoria Harbour. The Western Harbour Tunnel is almost across the street so a taxi ride can take you into West Kowloon in less than 10min. Or a few minutes taxi ride (or hotel shuttle) to the Star Ferry on the Hong Kong island side. Very convenient. It seems away from things but it's actually not. A little bit of planning and this hotel is in the perfect location which makes it a great value. It's in the Sai Ying Pun area of Hong Kong Island with very easy access to the ferries that can take you to Macau. Because it's away from the tourist areas it is very quiet especially at night and a lot less crowded which is hard to find in Hong Kong unless you are way away from everything.

Old hotel, with friendly and attentive staff. Min 15 walk from nearest subway station.

A wonderful experience.

Posted 23-Aug-2014
Pros: Very friendly, pleasant, and helpful staff. Excellent location both for getting there from the airport and for local travel.
Cons: The housecleaning was acceptable but more care would make it a superb hotel.
When asked for a room on a higher floor, was given a room with a clear view of the harbor.

Repeat customer

Posted 04-Aug-2014
Pros: The staff are very helpful and courteous. The rooms and bath are well fitted out, but somewhat small. However, it is difficult to beat the price.
Cons: I was on a no-smoking floor, but the air conditioning often flowed smoke into my room.
Location: Not much in the local area, but the city center and ferries are close enough to get anywhere.
I have used this hotel on three separate visits to Hong Kong and would come back again. It is not across the street from the MTR, but the hotel offers a shuttle bus to a station. I used the Hong Kong Shuttle bus to get there from the airport ($US19) and return (US$19), for door-to door service. The harbor views are great. There are Chinese restaurants just up the street (left from the front entrance, up two blocks) for reasonable meals. Otherwise the city center is close enough to take the tram.

Very nice hotel in the heart of Hong Kong!

Very nice hotel in the heart of Hong Kong without the hi-end price! Rooms and amenities are as nice as any from the more expensive chains. Would highly recommend and stay again when back in HKG!

Excellent value

Posted 07-Jul-2014
Pros: The staff. The bathrooms.
Cons: The only discomfort was the cigarette smoke that came through the air conditioning in the middle of the night, despite being on a non-smoking floor.
I have stayed in this popular hotel several times in the past and future. It has very helpful staff and is centrally located, not far from the MTR and airport train. There is a bus from the air port (Hong Kong airport shuttle) that you can book on line ($US19) that will take you to the hotel. There is a nice breakfast shop directly south from the hotel entrance (away from the harbor), across the traffic lights on the left, for steam buns and congee.

Overall Good!

Posted 03-Jul-2014
Pros: Very courteous & helpful staff!
Location: Best claypot rice @ one of the lanes & very traditional HK dessert @ same street!
Overall good except would love to have a little more space in the room but by Hong Kong's standard, it is still ok esp. for price paid.
