Very nice stay
Nice lady checked us in. Nice & warm in all areas. Nice bedroom. Had 18 stairs to climb though, not really suitable for the elderly, so ask for a first floor room. Television a bit small for the room but had lots of channels. Quiet area so had a good sleep every night. Convenient for the Mayflower theatre & not too far to the main shopping area if you enjoy a short walk. Close to the railway station too.

Some features of the hotel room and the shower room need to be fixed and not been fixed. The electricity wires of one of the bed side light are exposed and caused safety concern. I did not use that bed side light. The is no plug for the drain hole of the washing basin inside the room. You cannot stop things dropping into the drain hole. The was not shampoo and shower gel in the shower rooms. The water pressure in one of the shower rooms is too weak. It is definitely not good enough for winter.

Good price in a quiet location, just a 10 minute walk from the city centre. Limited parking on the street. Mattress really needed replacing. Sensor activated bathroom light wasn't long enough, so the light would switch off whilst still in the shower.

Nice, cosy clean place.
Nice place kept super clean and tidy. Sadly didn't sleep well as every time I turned over the tiny quilt fell off the bed. Heating wasn't on/working. Be careful, some of the rooms are not on-suite and it doesn't tell you that on the booking site.

Check-in advertised to be between 15-22:00Hrs but got an email from the owner that they will not be available for check-in after 7pm so I should arrive before then. Private shower/ bathroom are not en-suite so pictures on website misleading. Hot weather not adnudting well in one bathroom. Keeps switching to cold water. No shower gel in the toiletries provided. Good WiFi Parking spaces for 4 cars. Owner friendly. Good breakfast. Bedroom not soundproof, able to hear noises from upper floor. I will suggest a king bed instead of a double bed for better sleep comfort since there is enough space. Will recommend a later check out than 10 am. I will suggest 11 or 12o’clock. Overall good stay,

Nice hotel close to city centre and the New Forest
This hotel is close to city centre if you are going on a cruise or to visit the New Forest. Breakfast very good with lots of choices. Would definitely recommend.

Average stay in a lovely quiet area
Our hostess welcomed us to the property but did not show us to our room. She just gave us the room key and said that our room was on the next floor up. The room was a slightly strange shape and felt a little cramped but the bed was comfortable and there were blackout curtains. The bathroom light had a sensor and came on as soon as you entered the bathroom. This was all right during the day and the evening but the whole room was lighted up during the night when one of us had to go to the bathroom. The breakfast was a bit skimpy and not all that well cooked. We liked the area as it was very quiet and not far from the Isle Of Wight ferry terminal but we will not stay at Argyle Lodge again. However, there are many other bed and breakfast places along that road so we would stay at one of those instead.

A small impersonable b&b
I'm an older guy and it will be a lasting unpleasant memory of me struggling to lug my heavy suitcase up a set of narrow stairs with the owner at the foot of the stairs watching. While it didn't occur to him to lend a hand he did manage to complain strongly that I may have left some scuff marks on his precious newly-painted wall adjacent to the stair case. The breakfast hours are restricted to one hour: 8 to 9 am, so if you intend to partake of breakfast don't plan on sleeping in if you're tired after a long trip. There is no lounge other than the breakfast room which is closed during the day. If you are looking for a place to relax, unwind and take it easy this may not be the place for you, unless you enjoy being cooped up in a small bedroom which, other than the twin beds offers two uncomfortable wooden chairs for your "comfort". There's a small TV near the ceiling which offers you a sore neck as a reward for watching it. As you can gather from the above my wife and I do not recommend this place.

Basic but fine for a couple of nights
My friend and I went to Common People which was close to Argyle Lodge. We just needed somewhere to sleep and get ready for the day ahead. Bed was comfortable and bedding clean. Breakfast was a fry up with a choice of scrambled, fried or poached egg, along with fruit juice, cereals, yoghurt, toast and fruit. We had a shared bathroom which was close to our room and clean. It met our needs for the weekend and was better than camping.

Couples Theatre Stay
Had a nice stay in this Hotel. Room was clean and welcoming. We decided before arriving that we'd like an en-suite so called and upgraded with no problems. No trouble parking infront of Hotel and the location is within walking distance of West Quay and the Mayflower Theatre so did some Christmas shopping before going out to see a show. Overall a very relaxing little break for both of us and we would definitely stay here again.

First thoughts upon arrival were disappointing as we assumed we had booked an en suite going on the picture of the room on the website, it was a bedroom with two shower rooms along the corridor, beds were comfy, we had a warm welcome at breakfast and the food was lovely so overall it was a pleasant stay......

Good value in a conveniently situated B&B
Two night stay prior to embarking on a cruise. Conveniently situated within walking distance to the city centre. Accommodation was clean and comfortable and our rate included a more than satisfactory breakfast both days. Only negative is that it is not that well sound-proofed from other rooms in the hotel and is relatively noisy from traffic and passers-by on a busy street. The landlord was very welcoming and helpful throughout our short stay
