Not up to the standard of other Malmaison hotels I’ve stayed in. Bathroom had not been cleaned, black mould in shower, dust on surfaces. Took paper sheet off tea service tray to find food underneath. Not great.

Lovely hotel the bed was huge and super comfy. Due to it being an old hotel the floor in the room was very creaky

2nd time staying, bed not comfy, noisy water pipes at 4am when room above having a shower, floorboards very noisy both in rooms and outside in hallway. Breakfast was great and the room was spacious….pity about the sleep!

We were 2 in room but only got one hand towel and one bath towel. The choice for dinner was not all that good and took a while to come . Room wasn’t checked for our second night . Good parking and nice area

Nice big room, perhaps a little noisy due to its proximity to the lift and stairs, but clean and comfortable. Excellent wifi, nice facilities. Stayed here a few times before, so we know the hotel and like it. Great location for exploring Leith.

We loved the Lieth area so much, beautiful cobblestone streets, plenty of amazing restaurants within a few minutes walk from the hotel, right by the water. The staff additionally was so kind a friendly that we chatted for several minutes when checking in. We were even provided with great recommendations for restaurants in the area! Parking on site (and free!) was a huge plus since we had a car in the city during our stay. The rooms were large, beautiful, and clean. We will definitely be back to stay at Malmaison!

Great stay.
Hotel was great, room was clean and spacious, bathroom could do with an upgrade, the shower was fantastic. All the staff were friendly and the service was brilliant.

Lovely hotel, and great location for the kitchin!
Great stay, lovely staff, easy and fast check in, lovely clean and spacious suite. Lovely continental breakfast delivered to our room as we had to check out early before the cooked breakfast began. Only slight minor was the windows in our room were rattling and draughty which was only highlighted as it was a very windy January night in Edinburgh. 99% of the time I’m sure you wouldn’t notice that. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Perfect place to book.
It was friendly warm & welcoming. All staff we met were all exceptional. The waiting staff at breakfast. Just lovely. The bed was super comfortable and the ambiance in the room comforting on a winters day. Good was delicious.

Nice stay but could be better
The room was spacious with nice views and a large bed. The bathroom floor needed to be cleaned better there was a smell of urine in the bathroom which wasnt very pleasant. The overhead shower was great. The onsite car park needs more light at night it was difficult to see.

Improved service, but disabled parking?
We felt that the breakfast staff/service had improved greatly since our previous visit. Staff very friendly and helpful. We had previously been able to park alongside the hotel, but this space is now bollards. They do apparently offer 1 space for disabled parking, but each day it was used so had to park in the hotel car park ,behind the hotel.

Tired and bad staff attitude & service
No response to message sent 6 days before ! On arrival total lack of interest / attitude . Hidden fee of £25 for a dog but lots of dog Pooh at the front as hotel provides NOTHING for dogs . Room was tired, blocked sink , and generally not worth the money . Problems happen but ZERO effort to rectify the problem

Rooms are a bit shabby and need redone. The lighting in the room was terrible, we only had 2 bedside lamps so it was very dark. Marks on the walls. Shower door didn’t close properly so water leaked everywhere. I requested a room with a bath and the hotel emailed me to say that they would make sure that I had one. This promise was not fulfilled. Overall I would not come back to this hotel, we were pretty disappointed sadly.

Always enjoy staying at Mal Maison Leith Edinburgh, Staff friendly and helpful nice rooms really quiet and most of all dog friendly. The only issue I have is the black mold around the silicone in the baths and showers. Simple bleach would sort this very quickly.

Sunshine on Leith
I believe people go to Edinburgh because it is a great city and neighbouring Leith can be overlooked. It’s changed over the years and now plays host to many many great bars and restaurants. The hotel itself is stunning from the outside. Real character. The staff are great. The only negative was the room we stayed in was a little tried. Curtains falling off rings, soap dispensers not working. Tiny detail really but you’d expect them to be sorted. I recommend Mal Maison and also spending some time in Leith rather than taxi straight into Edinburgh
