Beautiful surroundings outside, but very noisy inside too many banging doors, the room was ok but a bit on the small side. Noisy fans throughout the night. The staff though were first class and very helpful.

Beautiful old property. Comfortable room and the staff were lovely. Sheets and towels nice and clean, but furnishings and carpet had seen better days (carpet was pretty stained - looked like a previous guest had walked something nasty round the room). Ate at the bar in the evening, again staff were lovely and the food was ok (everything pretty saturated in sauce and dressing). Shower was one of those mixer taps, warm but no pressure and the water drained really slowly. Would stay again if in the area, but it feels like a place you stay for the one night only.

Nice hotel but room for improvement!
Lovely hotel with friendly accomodating staff. The hotel is a little dated and not to everyones taste in style. Our room was nice enough except for the shower. Absolutley no pressure what so ever and probably the worst shower we've ever encounted on our trips. Ended up having to lean over the bath with a cup to wash my hair from the bath tap instead. We know its an old building but id definitley recommend they look into the water pressure. There was also a wedding one night which we wasnt made aware of when we booked so we were kept up until early hours of the morning with the base of the music & guests being noisy outside our room. Nice stay but room for improvement.

We are really sorry about the shower experience, I have reported this to our maintenance manager for review, as the pressure should have been adequate. We are also sorry about the wedding noise. The DJ switches the music off at midnight for every wedding but sometimes, as you say, guests might be noisy outside the rooms. We made you aware of the wedding taking place on the 26th of November, the day you made your reservation, by messaging you through Expedia. The cooked breakfast was not up to scratch. The beans looked like vomit. The toast was turned. The staff were very loud not in keeping with a country hotel

Comfortable short stay
A comfortable one night stay. The hotel was well kept and the room was very clean and comfortable. The only down side was a long wait for hot water to reach the room - but it did eventually. Would definitely stay again.

The property looked magnificent and grand. Upon arrival, a wedding reception party was in full swing, so, there were several very merry people around the property and the music was very loud, but this was understandable and we were given a room far from the noise and commotion. We did experience a lack in communication between the staff, but it wasn't a huge issue. Overall, this is a good venue and I would stay again and highly recommend it for parties and groups.

Incorrectly sent me a late email stating no dining options due to a Xmas party. Option to refund, but to late to book an alternative hotel. When I asked reception what did they suggest they then realised wrong email template, but to late to dine. (Wedding on) Directions to takeaways etc but neglected to mention dark footpath. When I returned did reception remembered to ask me about breakfast which apparently had to be decided on arrival. If I hadn't have happened to see reception, I wouldn't have been asked and so then no breakfast. Lucky they saw me! That particular reception person was very joyful but not presentable. Morning reception and room staff very presentable and helpful... Room was tired for the price

Very good hotel but not during a wedding
Hotel is very comfortable and service and food excellent. One night of my stay coincided with a wedding and although they warned me they also said they would make every effort to put me away from the wedding. In actual fact I was over the top of the disco and patio with all the doors open and guests outside. I am not noise sensitive but it really was overwhelming. I would very much recommend the hotel but not if there is a wedding.

Friendly and attentive staff
After booking we received an email informing us they were hosting two weddings during our stay, in case we felt it might adversely affect us. We stuck with our booking and they put us in rooms 9 & 11 ‘away from the noise’. Although the weddings could be heard, the noise was by no means intrusive. Our welcome was very friendly and needs met efficiently (the sized bed we had requested on booking had not been actioned but this was quickly resolved on arrival) The staff were friendly, helpful and professional. It’s a beautiful building with a traditional feel. Rooms were basic but clean - in-room tea and coffee facilities is always a bonus. The bed was comfortable enough, but not anything special. Breakfast was buffet style and had pretty much everything you might expect - fruit, yogurt, cereal plus full English (the hash browns are delicious!) All in all I would readily recommend Astley Bank as a place to stay.
