Small, poorly appointed bathroom. Too much corridor light coming in under the entrance and through the transom window above the door.
Unique historic main lobby - interesting character.
Overall not good value.

No idea what this place is like.
Room booked 6 months prior was cancelled with no good reason. No compensation or assistance for alternative accommodation.
Was attending Tour de Cure, a major fundraiser for cancer research, so area was fully booked.
If you can’t honour your contract, you must make things right.
If management is reading this, you should understand that word spreads quickly at events like this, over 2000 attendees.

Unfortunately the air conditioner was overwhelmed by ... forest fire smoke? And the ceiling fan rattled and continually hit one of the control cords. The Bar below was noisy, and the noise in the parking lot outside the bar sounded raucous and aggressive. Not conducive for a pleasant nights sleep. Too many motorcycles with little or no muffler?? Too bad.

The only thing I thought was disappointing was the breakfast eggs. The selection of breakfast foods was fine. It would have been nice to have mugs instead of paper cups for coffee

This hotel was horrible. Windows above the doors that face the bed. Our room smelt like bleach with an underlying smell I couldn’t place. I had hives on my legs from sitting on the bed. We spent a total of 20 minutes before we grabbed our stuff and went and stayed at the coast. The entire hotel uses PIN codes to access the doors allowing anyone to give their code away to the front door. No one working the front desk from 11-7am in the morning to talk to about our concerns so when we called the next day to ask them for a full refund and they denied us. I would never recommend staying here to anyone

Most staff were very put out when asked for anything. Our room had one towel and when I asked for more I was told to bring mine down and they would exchange it. No face cloth or hand towels.

Absolutely hated the bed. Killed my lower back. Watch out in the tub too, it’s not made for anyone over 120 lbs.
The staff is a bit on the colder side and all have a pattern of complaining. I doubt I would ever return to this hotel and will look for something else the next time I come to Chilliwack.

Is a great historical hotel. But unfortunately. No water to drink no fridge where you can save your food or beverages. Or to keep water colder with the hot weather. Air-conditioning not functioning well.

Also, only certain rooms we have offer fridges and microwaves. It would have been beneficial for you to ask ahead for those amenities. Our AC system is a central air system, with feeds going to different wings of the hotel. We do offer very good floor fans to help you cool off if you need to. Thank you

Owners do not take pride in this charming property. It’s desperately needing restoration and cleaning. Our suite was dusty, had multiple holes in the walls, old broken plastic fixtures, and a lamp we had to plug and unplug to use as the switch no longer worked. Door was removed to separate bedroom from living space, which was the reason we got the suite. No on-site desk staff. They leave you with a phone number if you require service. Sorry, but it isn’t your guest’s job to call you into work. If you don’t want to be there, why should we?

Hi Crystal, Thank you for taking the time to provide thorough feedback. We were unaware that there was an issue with the lamp and have since ordered a new one to replace the existing lamps. As for our front desk, it is staffed from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. every day. Overnight we have over the phone customer service and Managers on site in case anything is needed for a guest in person. We are truly saddened to learn that your stay did not meet your expectations but are happy to share that we are in the process of renovating the property and updating all of the rooms. Room was very small.
Found garbage under the bed, from previous guests (so obviously wasn't cleaned well).
Booked 7 nights, but had to leave one day early. Though I notified them two days prior, the hotel wasn't willing to refund the final night's cost. A $200 freebie, in their pocket!
I wouldn't stay there again, or recommend it.

There is a pub attached to this hotel that plays loud music until 1AM. Drunk people in the streets included. There was no air conditioner in the room. The halls are air conditioned and we had to leave our door open to bring the room temperature down for the few hours we could sleep. Yes, we had to leave the door open well we slept. It was close to 30 degrees in the room. The street outside is narrow and the walls in this old building don’t block noise. The traffic was very loud very early.

I've stayed many times now. Always had good experiences staying the but, as all prices are going up. The cost is the biggest draw back. Our room has a view of the roof and outside steps, for $197 including taxes is a lot to pay just to shower and sleep there. It was the least expensive place to stay for us in Chilliwack.

The property was not what was on the expedia web site.
There was no elevator, no cable ( they had Netflix and ect but you could not access any of them.). The front desk person couldn't even get into any of the sights.
There was no dining in the hotel and no fridge in the room. When i questioned about the fridge i was given a bucket of ice.
And then to top all that off the blanket on the bed was stained.
I would not recommend this establishment to anyone.

We have fixed the issue you experienced with your smart tv. We do have dining however, The Tokyo Grill is open Monday to Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Whiskey Richard's our Bar & Lounge is open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 4:00 p.m. to midnight with more hours coming soon. Not all of our rooms are equipped with Fridge and Microwave but they can be made available upon request. The fact that your inquiry was not handled this way is definitely a training opportunity for some of our newer team members. The staff at the Royal Hotel were excellent - friendly and helpful! While the building is old and amenities are basic, it’s extremely charming and my room was clean and comfortable, with a cozy bed and lots of character. Would definitely come back anytime!
