We had the bridesmaids suite as the the hotel was fully booked paid over 200 Euro,room was outdated smelling of mould ; carpets all around Hotel was worn and dated couldn’t sleep properly as the night porter was walking around all night the floor boards are creaking so load you can hear everyone walking around hotel day or night wouldn’t recommend this Hotel to anybody shoul be taken off the List.

Blocked drains detracted from otherwise enjoyable
The hotel room itself was compact and comfortable but was let down by smell of blocked drains . This may be caused by dampness from the bathroom but either way it spoilt our enjoyment. The staff in the bar where we had some drinks in the afternoon and restaurant for breakfast the following day were both very friendly , helpful and efficient

Lovely hotel , very good staff who were happy to oblige, great location and lovely garden bar. Only complaint was that it had very creaky floorboards that were not great when your upstairs neighbours returned to their room

From the minute we walked in Nicola and the staff were amazing. They welcomed a group of us and couldn't have done enough for us throughout the stay. I would highly recommend this hotel

Don't bother!
We had been given the 1st night of our stay as a present off our children and we booked an additional room at £144r/o pay in advance! When we checked in the receptionist could hardly be bothered on the paperwork it said we were to have room 9, but she said take no notice you have room 8! The room was so small especially the bathroom you couldn't have swung a cat! When I complained to the receptionist abd queried about the room as we could see that room 9 was much larger, she said she had originally upgraded us to room 9 but as she couldn't sell the standard room 8 she had down graded us as rhats what we had paid for! When I said we would have had better staying in a premier inn she ignored me and said she wasn't listening as I was rude! We will never stay again and would never recommend it!!!

A beautiful hotel, with very welcoming hosts. Fantastically sited for the city and Dee gate. They welcomed us and our dog, couldn't have been more helpful. We will stay again.

The downstairs area of the hotel was well maintained and had a good feel. However, this wasn’t mirrored when you went upstairs to the guest rooms. Perfect Location close to shops and places of interest. Lovely accommodation and very friendly and helpful staff. Food in the restaurant was lovely too and full breakfast served at your table and all piping hot. Would recommend to anyone..

The hotel was easy to find and so central to everything, the staff where absolutely incredible and so lovely. The hotel was beautiful inside so clean. Loved that we had tobes and slippers was such a lovely touch the room was spacious and the beds where so comfortable.

A decent hotel in the heart of Chester
Service was brilliant, staff on arrival were super friendly and helpful. The bar area was beautifully decorated and cozy. However the journey to my room along the corridors looked grubby and had narrow staircases to negotiate. On entering the room it had a funny smell, a bit wet dog! Nevertheless it was clean, comfortable and had tea and coffee, biscuits, iron, hairdryer and decent toiletries. I was disturbed a couple of times by very creaky floorboards in the room above as guests returned late and got up early - moving around in the room.The bathroom was small and the shower lacked any power but it was functional. I’d stay again as it’s well located near to the city attractions, and has a good bar and restaurant. I’d suggest asking questions before booking if you have mobility issues as access to the property and rooms may be difficult…

We stayed on the top floor in the attic and the room was very claustrophobic. Hardly any natural light from the tiny window and we kept banging our head when in bed. The shower room was very small and the shower lacked water pressure. The room was very clean and warm. The hotel is nice and the breakfast was ok. Be warned there is no lift, so anything you bring needs to be carried up a lot of stairs!

a week's stay in September.
We stayed for a week. The first few days were fairly good. There was not much space to hang clothes so we just used the spare bed. However on the third day something went wrong with the plumbing and they moved us to a different room. However, there was no double room available and they moved us to an apartment which was next door to the hotel. Amphitheatre. So much space. It could sleep 6 people. A large kitchen. It was so nice to have a fridge at least. Something not normally available in UK hotels without a kitchen. TVs in kitchen, lounge and both bedrooms. 2 large sofas as well as the dining area in the centre of the flat. Such a difference to get loads of hanging space in the large wardrobe taking up one wall. I suppose it must cost a considerable amount more so we were so lucky to have the space. Could not fault the customer service of the staff. Excellent.

Hotel was reasonable, but a lack of TLC and general maintenance let's it down a little. I was in room 6, and the bathroom door felt like it was going to fall apart if you closed it then tried to open it again. When we arrived in the room the shower mat was sitting half in and half out of the shower tray and it was soaking wet. I hung it up to dry but it didn't dry out during our stay. I think they'd forgotten to finish cleaning the bathroom before we checked in (worrying during covid). Shower head was filthy and area around outside of shower tray needed a good clean. Safety catch was broken on window, allowing it to open much further than it should (a worry since I had young children with me and we were on the second floor). The cardboard around the key card said breakfast started at 7 and when we went down at 7:45 the chef hadn't even arrived yet. Apparently it doesn't start until 8 but this was not noted anywhere. Secret Garden restaurant was ok, if a little disappointing. A customer was sitting smoking right beside a no smoking sign and staff did nothing to stop her. Otherwise, hotel was fine and staff were friendly.
