Very comfy and clean. Love the area, very convenient location. Room was quite small, TV size is perfect! Breakfast were delicious. Just be aware if you need fresh towels and changing of bedding you need to let them know otherwise they will NOT change them for clean linens. All in all a great place

Had a wonderful and amazing time staying in Les Lezard during our short stay in Cartagena. Marcus and Luis have been amazing hosts through out the whole time. The B&B had all the things you needed in a cozy setting. The place is near coffee shops and and restaurants-and it’s only 12-15 min away from the walled city. I highly recommend this place if you want a place that is safe, has a great location and will make you feel welcome-this is the place to be. shout out to Marcus and Luis for making our short stay memorable in Cartagena. will gladly stay there again in the future

A nice, kind of quirky spot, good for walking to interesting areas. We had the largest room, the Africa suite, with charming decor items, it felt very homey. Loved the pet tortoise that was in the small courtyard. But the room was overall very small. Good breakfast made to order by staff. But DON'T pay the $80,000.00 COP for the driver that they offer from the airport. We did, then paid $25,000.00 COP to return to the airport in a regular taxi.

Dear Guest, Thank you for your nice review. I’m happy that you enjoyed your stay !The Souvenir d’Afrique room is 27sqm (290sqft) and La Mer is 33sqm (355sqft), these are our 2 largest rooms and they are significantly larger than the average room size in hotels and b&bs in the Historical Center of Cartagena. On booking sites, you’ll find 2 different rates, one including pick-up and another without pick-up. When confirming the reservation we offer our guests to pick them up , if it’s not included we specify the rate and it’s up to the guest to decide if they wish to be picked up by our driver or not. We recommend to all our guests to take our pick-up service because arriving at an unfamiliar airport in Latin America can sometimes be overwhelming. Upon exiting the airport you’ll be surrounded by dozens of drivers trying to get your bags and getting you in their vehicle and they will almost always overcharge you. Having a valet service with a private driver that is waiting for you, no matter if your flight is late or not, that will help you with your bags and will take you safely to our property and that is coordinating your arrival with our concierge is a big plus. Yes, we charge Col80,000 for airport pick-up which seems fair and not comparable to a cab fare. We also recommend our guests to take a cab when checking out as going from our property to the airport is straightforward and as we call the cab from a known cab association the risk of being overcharged is limited and if this happens we’ll be able to pursue and report the driver. I invite you to contact me at our mail or Whatsapp. I’ll be happy to further discuss the matter with you. Thank you. Cheers, Marcus

i loved the location of this property! it is in a very walkable area, has great access to bars & restaurants, and the staff was very polite & super helpful (with recommendations, breakfast, and getting a taxi back to the airport). the only drawbacks were there was no running water on our last day (we went on a boat/island tour so at the end of a long day in the sun & sand this was not idea) and i overheard another guest say the week before there was no running water for 5 days in a row, and the beds were not very comfortable (adding a memory foam topper would be great).

Overpriced
My personal opinion is that the room is overpriced. The room looks bigger and brighter on the photo than in reality. The furniture is old and the space feels narrow. Given that there are mosquitoes in Cartagena that time of the year, the window in the bathroom has no net and cannot be closed. It is a round hole that lets air and everything with it. I got bitten immediately. On the day we arrived, there was practically no water. While this was not the owner's fault, they could have at least offered bottled water to drink as a welcome. Instead, they offer a bottle of wine. Not everyone drinks alcohol, while water in this climate is a must. Everywhere we have been on our journey, some water is offered as a welcome gift. We were told that we could buy their minibar water for 7000 pesos. We went out to the store 100 meters away and bought 3 bottles for 5000! I had declared upon arrival that we would not be able to eat their breakfast because it starts at 7 and our flight was leaving early. We woke up at 5 and made coffee on the machine in the room with the 2 capsules supplied. We assumed at least the 2 capsules were free. Then Frank came at 6am to get the keys and stated that the coffee costs I forget how much. I reminded him that we were not able to have breakfast We had hardly touched anything, including we did not shower due to the water situation (and the open window in the bathroom). He agreed with my arguments, but I just do not think this was good customer service.

Dear Guest,Thank you for your review though I don’t grasp the economics behind your words…should we give you all for free ? Free water, free coffee, free room…?The room is 27sqm ( 290sqft ) as indicated on our listing on Expedia and on our web site. In the room there are vintage African items and French furniture from the 18th and 19th century. I’m sorry you did not like it. When you stayed for one night, there was indeed a water emergency in the city, which was then declared Public Health Emergency by the Mayor’s office. The 1,300,000 inhabitants of Cartagena had no water for 4 days. But, I must insist, you always had water and we went above and beyond to make sure that you and our other guests always had water.Your room has a dedicated emergency water tank and though with little pressure, the shower, the hand basins and the toilet had water. We also put in every bathroom 2 gallons of water and 2 water bottles to rinse your teeth…WHICH WE DID NOT CHARGE.You did not use the shower because there is a window in the bathroom ?You state that we offered you wine instead of water, this is not accurate. Your reservation was part of Expedia’s VIP ACCESS program and offers a preferred rate and a courtesy wine bottle. When we checked you in we showed you that the wine bottle was in the minibar as well as cork screw, glasses and vacuum pump. We also offered you water and coffee when we checked you in and registered, WHICH WE DID NOT CHARGE. In the room’s minibar there is water, coca-cola, beer, prosecco, snacks,… The price list is on the side of the minibar. Do you sincerely believe that you should have all the items in the minibar for free ? The bottles you bought at the local store are not spring water as the bottles in the minibars, it’s filtered tap water, very very very different from spring water, hence the price difference. Price and quality are not comparable. The water bottles in the minibar are Agua Manantial, the only spring water available in Colombia. The Nespresso capsules for the coffee corner have a cost, which is shown on the price list. We do buy, and pay the Nespresso machines and capsules from Nestle, we don’t have them for free…Breakfast does indeed start at 7am and is served until 12. You checked out around 5am, so breakfast was not available, which I believe is understandable, within the norms and you shouldn’t blame us for this. When you made your reservation I personally sent you a mail confirming your reservation and offering you to pick you up at the airport. I also personally helped you with your tv set and Netflix during the night and our staff gave you lots of info on where to go to explore the city. Why would you say you did not have good customer service ?We believe that customer service is of uttermost importance and do our best every day and every night to give the best service to our guests. We also believe that screaming at Francois, the young man that came at 5am to help you check out, get

I had to cancel my original stay for this property during COVID, and the staff here were more than happy to honor my original stay all these years later. The property is very close to everything in Getsemani but is very quiet and on a low-traffic street. The house pets are wonderful, and the breakfast is very good. Cartagena had a city-wide water outage for several days, and Les Lezards provided potable water for all their guests and did everything in their power to make us comfortable during the outage that affected everyone in the city. I highly recommend the property due to the professionalism, kindness, location, and wonderful job the family and staff do to keep the property safe, clean, and lovely. Thank you!

Our recent stay at Les Lezards B&B was an absolute delight. Nestled in the heart of lively Getsemani, the location couldn't have been better. Despite the vibrant surroundings, the B&B provided a serene oasis, allowing us to relax and unwind. The Suite d’Afrique, where we stayed, was a masterpiece of design, combining comfort with exotic flair. Each morning, we were treated to a delicious breakfast accompanied by the charming presence of two tortoises, adding a touch of whimsy to the experience. Although we encountered a minor hiccup with the A/C on the first night, the swift response and excellent customer service quickly resolved the issue, reaffirming the dedication of the staff to ensuring a pleasant stay for all guests. In summary, Les Lezards B&B exceeded our expectations in every way, and we can't wait to return. For travelers seeking a unique and memorable stay in Getsemani, I wholeheartedly recommend this gem of a B&B.

This is a wonderful Bed & Breakfast. You will receive personal attention here that you won’t get at a hotel. They will assist you with anything you need or want to do and recommendations. The room is quiet with a comfortable bed. Location is very good, within the old city walls in a quiet area but can walk everywhere. Just down the street is the waterfront with food trucks and a bar. There is a rooftop lounge chair and hot tub. Breakfast here was delicious! Eggs, pastry, fresh fruit, and smoothies! Would definitely recommend this to others.

Wonderful stay
Very relaxing and comfortable, with friendly and helpful staff. Located on a quiet street close to everything. Bit of a Bohemian vibe, which we enjoy. Very nice breakfast. Africa suite was a little smaller than the photos imply -- more cozy than cramped. Venturing up the spiral stairway for a restorative soak in the cool water of the rooftop jacuzzi became an afternoon ritual.

This was an excellent stay for our second visit to Cartagena. We felt so welcomed from our host, Romain because he was waiting outside for our arrival, he was eager to make sure we enjoyed our time by giving us recommendations on things to do, and he kept us company during our daily breakfast. If Romain’s warm and inviting persona wasn’t enough, our chef, Ledes, was absolutely phenomenal. Not to mention we also loved the natural aspect of the entire b&b. Meeting the turtles who were apart of the landscaping team, the cat who was head of the welcoming committee, and the lizard who made sure the entire location was secure, was just the cherry on top. Not only will we be back for the comfortable stay, but for the different characters who make it that way.

It is a family business and it shows. Marcus and his sons take exceptional care and pride in what they do. Every minor detail is tended to with exceptional diligence. The property is homey, kept super clean and diligently maintained. The staff tends to the guest’s needs with care and speed. The neighborhood is lively, where action is and things are happening. Everything you need from food to entertainment is literally right around the corner and yet the property is an oasis and a respite in middle of all this energy. So you get both. We were happy that we decided to stay in this older and vibrant part of the city rather the newer more distant and bland section of Cartagena. We also enjoyed Pacco, Marcus’s son. He was always ready with a wonderful smile and suggestions for a tour or other ideas to make our visit more memorable. We absolutely enjoyed our one week stay with them.

The staff here—Paco, in particular, were great—helpful and sociable. The jacuzzi area was lovely, and breakfast was very good. Although we really liked the decor of our room (Africa room), it was small for 3 people, the beds were not comfortable, and the tv didn’t seem to work. We would stay here again but would get two of the other rooms for the 3 of us.

The hotel is a beautiful location inside the walled city. Great place to stay and walking distance to many of the landmarks and restaurants in the area. Our room was very clean and we had a private balcony with a jacuzzi to soak in and cool down. The staff treatment was excelent and very attentive, accomodating our scheduled arrival and morning breakfast. Paco gave us great tips on where to eat and walk to and helped us get in contact with the tour to Islas del Rosario. I would come back again in January or February as the weather can be quite hot!

Very unique property in great location in Getsemini. Very easy check in, our first room was the Santorini room which was a lovely room with an outdoor seating area, the only issue for us was the steep spiral staircase to the bedroom, followed by an equally steep spiral staircase you needed to take to the bathroom. We’re in our 60’s and although not unfit didn’t fancy going up & down the stairs during the night. We asked to be moved if possible and luckily a ground floor room was available. Bed was great, sheets were soft, pillows were lovely. Towels in the bathroom were thick & fluffy. No noise at night which was lovely. Breakfast in the morning was whatever you wanted off the menu, which was very enjoyable. Just one note the coffee in the room is not free, 5,000 pesos per cup. If you’re looking for a place to stay that is out of the ordinary this is definitely it, would stay here again.

Not comfortable, but great artistic location!
We spent 1 uncomfortable night at the inn. After a long day of travel to get to Colombia we arrived to the very charming B&B. We stayed in the Afrique room and loved the decor and history! We went out to grab quick dinner and returned. The street had some sort of power outage so after a long, sweaty day in airports we were without AC and very hot and uncomfortable (no windows). No wifi. We managed to fall asleep on the bed that was rock hard. However, we were soon awakened by the guests upstairs on their patio talking loudly until 1am. We woke up to no water to flush toilets. The pros are that the staff is kind and attentive, the location is great for nightlife. Very close to Plaza de Trinidad with lots of fun to be had. For us, it was not a good fit based on our needs after traveling, but will be a good fit for others.

Dear Guest, Thank you for your review.Yes, indeed during the night of your stay, at about 10pm a transformer from a nearby power station exploded and the voltage of the whole block became very irregular until the morning. The lights continued working but not the a/c. I’m really sorry about that. Of course it’s not our fault and we, and all the neighbors, hotels and restaurants, called and called the power company until they repaired it but I do understand that without a/c, the nights in Cartagena are really very hot…again, I’m really sorry that this happened during your stay. This is something that sometimes happens, Colombia is a developing country and the power infrastructure is insufficient to cover the touristic needs in the center of the city and of several areas in the country.Wifi may have been affected as well during the night though the concierge told me that you communicated by Whatsapp. The mattress is an orthopedic mattress. It’s firm, some like it some don’t…probably the lack of a/c did not help. What issue did you have with the wc ? We checked it before we gave you the room and then again this morning before the next guest checked-in and we found it flushing normally. I hope that we can accommodate you again, with no power shortages for you to fully enjoy your stay at Les Lezards. I invite you to contact me at our mail or Whatsapp. I’ll be happy to further discuss the matter with you. Thank you. Cheers, Marcus

Everything about this B&B is thoughtful - the design, the hospitality of the proprietor, host, staff, it's just perfect. It's so close to the heart of Getsemani but absolutely quiet and peaceful at night (so important to me!). Wonderful stay and great staff!
My boyfriend and I spent four nights at Les Lezards and couldn’t have picked a better place to stay! Les Lezards is conveniently located in the Getsemani neighborhood, tucked away on a quaint, quiet little street. Marcos, Luis, and the rest of the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. Upon arrival, Luis provided us with fresh coffee and drinks while they reviewed a map of the city with us and offered their personal recommendations. Each morning, we were served a fresh Colombian breakfast on the beautiful patio adorned by trees, often joined by the two tortoises that freely roam the grounds. The room we stayed in had a homey feel; it was comfortable and tastefully decorated with maps, books, and various pieces of art. Marcos arranged for a taxi service to and from the airport, which made even more ease of our travels. For anyone looking for a lovely stay in Cartagena, Les Lezards is the place to be.

VIP Access hotel is false advertising. There's nothing VIP about this place, and its not a hotel. It's a Bed and breakfast. It has no luxurious furnishings, no view, no hot tub, toilet does not flush and you are told to place your soiled toilet paper in the only waste basket available, mattrass and pillows are hard, floors are dirty, you have to take turns to get breakfast due to inadequate seating, and you have very little privacy from other guests.

Dear Guest, I’ll be straightforward and clarify things up:Expedia’s VIP ACCESS program offers a preferred rate, WHICH YOU HAD as you can see in your reservation info, a courtesy bottle of wine, WHICH WAS IN THE MINIBAR OF YOUR ROOM, with wine glasses, corkscrew and wine vacuum pump, and a courtesy upgrade IF AND ONLY IF A HIGHER CATEGORY ROOM IS AVAILABLE. You stayed during Thanksgiving week-end and all rooms were busy so we could not give you a courtesy upgrade. We did not incur in any wrongdoing nor is this a case of false advertising as you claim. Yes, we are a BED&BREAKFAST indeed ! Hence, LES LEZARDS b&B is the name of the property ! Luxurious furnishing ? Your room has a last generation a/c, a 55 inches Samsung tv, some teak furnishing and an antique chest of drawers. What kind of luxurious furnishing did you expect ?There is a hot tub ! What do you mean toilets do not flush ? Why would you say something like that ? Nobody told you to place used toilet paper in the basket in the bathroom ! This is a completely non hygienical thing to do ! Mattresses are orthopedic mattresses.Every bed has 2 soft and 2 hard pillows.Where was the floor dirty? In your room ? In the patios of the house ? We clean the house several times a day and the rooms are cleaned daily. Did we miss something in your room ? At breakfast we can accommodate seven guests at the same time in the 2 patios, our breakfast serving time is from 7am to 12. We also offer breakfast in the rooms if the guest wishes, or on the terrace. As the house was full during your stay it’s possible that you showed up for breakfast and that the tables were busy. If this happens we inform our guests that as soon as a guest finishes his breakfast we’ll call them or that breakfast can be served in the room. We also offer you to schedule the day before at what time you wish to have breakfast, this is indicated on the breakfast menu leaflet in your room. We met every day, several times a day, during your stay. We talked in the patios, we chatted in the corridors, we even met on the nearby square and talked. We gave you so many recommendations on tours and restaurants but at no time did you ever inform us that you were having so many issues. My staff and I were all under the clear impression that you were having a great time. Your wife did also publish an amazing review on your stay on the internet. If you would have told me or our staff about all this we could have definitely solved your queries, such as the toilet paper use, the floors, setting up a time for your breakfast, and giving you softer pillows. I invite you to contact me at our mail or Whatsapp. I’ll be happy to further discuss the matter with you. Thank you. Cheers, Marcus

We arrived thinking we had a room like the one on the picture when we booked the reservation. It was nothing like it. First, the access to the room is dangerous, you have to climb steps like vertical ladders to get to the room. Room was so small, my wife and I could not walk in and stand at the same time. No room to put clothes, as the only drawers were moldy and dirty. To make it worse, the roof was leaking water in to our bed. The bed had to be pushed against a wall, so my wife and I had to take turns getting into the bed. Fortunately, we were able to find another hotel at the last minute and we left running out of that dump. Also the neighborhood felt unsafe. Owner Marcus, said he could offer us P refund, but we are still waiting. At the minimal, they should return 0, as they are false advertising the way they display how their rooms look. My advice, go to another Hotel in Boca Grande, they are bigger, more up to American standards and the same price. Taxis are very cheap, so it’s better and safer.

Dear Guest, When you arrived with our driver that picked you up at the airport, we gave you the room you booked, Up in the Sky. When you booked, I personally sent you a message confirming that you booked the Up in the Sky room and offered to pick you up.All the info on this room (which by the way is our most sold room) is available on Expedia and is visible during the booking process: pics, amenities, size of the room and that the room is on the upper floor. The staircase to the main terrace is not a “vertical ladder”, it’s a spiral colonial staircase and has been designed and built by the famous and award winner architect Alberto Samudio. The room is not dirty, nor is the house. You did not, nor any of our guests would have to take turns to get into the bed, this is outrageous. There where a few drops of rain in the room, a tropical storm just passed by, we would easily have solved this issue but you left. The neighborhood is not dangerous and has been declared by Forbes Magazine as one of the “10 coolest neighborhoods in the world. I’m sorry you missed that. Saying that our property is a “dump” is completely inappropriate. You did not run out from our property, we chatted with you after you told us that you had a knee problem and could not climb the stairs, offered you 2 other rooms, you denied our offer, and we called a cab for you and then helped you with your bags into the cab. Bocagrande is very different from the Historical Center indeed. All the history, architecture, tropical lifestyle and colonial vibe, bars, restaurants, galleries and events are here in the Historical Center. It’s a completely different experience and if you stay in the modern neighborhood of Bocagrande you’ll spend your holiday catching cabs to go back and forth to the center. I can also add that comparable hotels in Bocagrande are cheaper than in the center. I invite you to contact me at our mail or Whatsapp. I’ll be happy to further discuss this matter with you. Thank you. Cheers, Marcus

Extremely accommodating, it was like staying with family. Seconds walking distance away from plenty of local culture. The bed was perfect and despite the proximity of a the action pack Street it was extremely quiet and I had no problems with sleeping. Fresh breakfast prepared in the open kitchen and the Chef taking your request just a couple feet away . Definitely recommend this location and it’s on my list to return to.

A hotel with a cool vibe, good food, a nice outdoor rooftop, and in a great location in the old town.

Lovely small property that excels in offering personal and friendly attention. The inn offers a simple, filling breakfast and will prepare a lunch or dinner meal for guests with a one day advanced notice. Great neighborhood and convenient to most of the city’s colonial district’s top sites and better shopping.
